Tate could have made the same block without being a dirty b**ch. The fact that he celebrated afterwards made me sick. I hope he gets a season-ending injury; preferably a torn ACL or something like that.

A former ND player, playing physical ball blocking hard in Hines Ward fashion, and doing it to a Cowboys player...
Pretty much one of the greatest plays ever.

Well that's to be expected from a saints fan. LOL. @ every who voted "legal". You guys would be fuming if that happened to someone on your team. An "unnecessary roughness" was called on that play because another Dallas LB "patted" Seattle QB on the back while going out of bounds... These "un-officials" suck. Lol no I wouldn't be upset. There was nothing wrong with the hit, the celebration after was crappy of him but still.

He lead with the helmet and that should be against the leading with the helmet rule. But it was just stupid on tate's part. Had he hit him right he would have paralyzed himself. Sean Lee was in no danger of getting seriously hurt Hmm 202lbs WR blocking a 245lbs ILB... Well there is NO way Tate could effectively block Lee just by extending his arms and putting his hand on Lee unless he holds him. Tate HAD to put a shoulder into him to take Lee out of the play, well unless he chop blocked him in the leagues. Which could lead to something scary like this and an ACL tear. Now if Tate his Lee directly in the helmet then I'd have a problem with it, but Tate obviously was aiming for the chest.

I didn't do anything! I Googled the story to see if I could find a better piece of film that would put the incident in context. The best view I found was at ESPN where this photo was posted. As best I can tell Wilson escaped to the left of the pocket and was pursued by Lee. Tate was lined up wide left and came across to block. It looked completely legitimate to me. It wasn't late or away from the ball. The player wasn't defenceless. It wasn't a shot at Lee's knees or head. It was a straight forward hit to the chest. If it was "straight" to the chest, his head wouldn't have bounced back so violently. Come on man, his head snapped backwards because of whiplash. That's what happens when you suddenly stop then go backwards in force.

From the clip and photo previously posted on this thread I couldn't see anything wrong. However, I have found a reverse angle clip and Tate appears to be launching. Launching is a foul no matter who it's done by or whom it's done to. We won't find out until Friday whether the fine is for the block, for launching, or for taunting.

Blind side block? For Pete's sake the only reason it was "blind side" is because Lee wasn't bright enough to keep his head on a swivel. The block was in the front and in the chest. This league is getting soft...
