Week 7 ESPN handicaps: Bears @ Packers -9.5 Giants @ Rams 2.5 Bills @ Dolphins 2.5 Browns @ Bengals -9.5 Redskins @ Lions -1.5 Colts @ Titans -2.5 Saints @ Chiefs -6.5 Raiders @ Jaguars -0.5 Vikings @ Eagles 2.5 Ravens @ Jets -0.5 Chargers @ Falcons -6.5 Buccaneers @ 49ers 1.5 Patriots @ Steelers 7.5 Seahawks @ Cardinals -1.5 Texans @ Broncos -7.5
Your points value choices: Bears 28 or Packers 9 Giants 16 or Rams 21 Bills 16 or Dolphins 21 Browns 28 or Bengals 9 Redskins 20 or Lions 17 Colts 21 or Titans 16 Saints 25 or Chiefs 12 Raiders 19 or Jaguars 18 Vikings 16 or Eagles 21 Ravens 19 or Jets 18 Chargers 25 or Falcons 12 Buccaneers 17 or 49ers 20 Patriots 11 or Steelers 26 Seahawks 20 or Cardinals 17 Texans 26 or Broncos 11
Please post picks here, send me a PM, or make picks on the ESPN board. Good luck to all. I think we'll need it. When I made my provisional picks on the ESPN board 3 weeks ago this week looked fairly easy. Now, 3 of the 4 biggest favourites are coming off horrible losses and the other favourite, (Patriots) are on the road...in Pittsburgh of all places. I might have to go with whatever the Bookie highlights as value and stick a pin in the rest.

TonOdanK, just a 24-hours-to-go reminder for all players to make picks. The Rams/Giants game is a London game so a pick for that game will need to be in especially early.

Week 7 was tougher than expected. The 49ers were bookie favourites but they were worth more than half the points. That made picking the Buccaneers harder. The Dolphins didn't look like value at 21, nor did the Falcons at 25. Half points were awarded for the tie.

Week 8 is in the books with yet another tie to mess up the scoring. We have a clear winner this week. Congratulations to cvr*** who knocked it out of the park, (if only you had picked the Bears! ). I keep forgetting to do my picks before the Thursday game. I think I went 3 weeks in a row without placing a pick for Thursday

I keep forgetting to do my picks before the Thursday game. I think I went 3 weeks in a row without placing a pick for Thursday You're not the only person who forgets to pick. It's why I don't include Thursday picks in the scoring. Those missed picks haven't cost you anything. I ask for Thursday picks because they provide me with data as to how differently people view Thursday games compared to Sunday games and because people who pick Thursday games are likely to pick the other games at the same time. I had 2 people forget the early Sunday games this week. Just a reminder that you can pre-pick SOME/ALL the games on ESPN and change them later once you've seen how teams are playing and what the points value choices are. I've pre-picked all the remaining games so I won't miss a pick. I normally make 3 or 4 changes/updates on Thursdays. If you want to check the .zip files with all the picks and scores for previous weeks they're available on the other forum, but I can also pm them to you here. You had a good week last week. If you had somehow found the Bears you would have been the weekly winner!

Week 9 is in the books and the key points were the 2 Night games and the 2 big upset wins by Lions and the Colts. I'm still trying to figure out how the Vikings can take the lead with 23 seconds left and still not win. Only 6 out of 19 people picked the Broncos on Sunday Night but they were 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 10th in the overall standings at the time. I wonder if the 19 points they dropped to Rho*** will be crucial come the end of the season? Commiserations to Flo*** who went into Sunday Night as the leader in the Weekly competition but came unstuck with the Broncos. Commiserations also to TonOdanK who missed the 2 big underdog wins but was otherwise 10 for 11, (and 10 for 10 in non-Thursday picks). In a 3-way battle for the Weekly Prize that left the door open for dol*** to swoop in late, (and with picks posted 1 minute before kick-off I do mean late!!! ), and become the 7th different Weekly Prize winner in 9 weeks. A special mention goes out to cvr*** who came up with a Baldrick-like cunning plan to send Rho*** beer to get him drunk enough to make bad picks. (You're supposed to SEND the beer NOT DRINK IT YOURSELF!!!). The best possible score was 193 dol*** 153 Flo*** 143 TonOdanK 143Bri***124 Ken 118 Dod*** 110 Old*** 110 Riv*** 109 Dav*** 108 LAC*** 99 Rho*** 99 Jor*** 95 Dag*** 94 Tro* 94 Ram*** 91 TK4*** 91 lostabroad2 79cvr*** 64 Lum*** 49 Auto-pick scores: Roland (every road team) 91 Hobart (every home team) 102 Fanny (every favourite) 124 Undra (every underdog) 69 Max (maximum system theory) 109 Minnie (minimum system theory) 84 *** Bookie (Thursday ML) 117 Cumulative scores: The best possible score was 2098.5 Rho*** 1202.5 cvr*** 1148.5 dol*** 1143 Jor*** 1129 TonOdanK 1118.5TK4*** 1101.5 Flo*** 1100 Dav*** 1097.5 Ken 1094 Lum*** 1047.5 Ram*** 1044.5 Tro* 1039 Old*** 1016.5 Riv*** 1013.5 lostabroad2 979.5Dag*** 970.5 LAC*** 935 Dod***949.5 Ath** 775 Bri*** 533.5 Auto-pick scores: Roland (every road team) 1035.5 Hobart (every home team) 1079.5 Fanny (every favourite) 963.5 Undra (every underdog) 1151.5 Max (maximum system theory) 1125.5 Minnie (minimum system theory) 989.5 *** Bookie (Thursday ML) 1147 I 'knew' I should have switched and gone with the *** Bookie picks . It was a good week for favourites with 10 out of 13 winning. The 3 underdogs still combined for a respectable score and overall 'picking underdogs' has been a good strategy this year...bettered only by 'copying Rho*** picks'. Over the last 3 year the best strategy in the final 8 weeks of the season has been to picks road teams with picking underdogs a good 2nd choice. It will be interesting to see if that holds true in this roller-coaster season. Congratulations to Week 9 Prize winner @dol***. Your prize will be available in the Sportsbook shortly. Congratulations to @rho*** who extends his overall lead to 54 points. However there are now 8 competitors all poised to strike if they can hit on a near perfect week. Congratulations to the group as a whole on being over 50% for the week. I'll be back later with the Week 10 handicaps and points scoring options. I'll also post some unofficial stats for the benefit of those who have missed picks or whole weeks. These stats will show how people have scored as a % of the points only in games they've picked in.
