The key thing you said there is "But they always beat us" whether its barely or not Remember though you guys have a population of 313million people Canada has 34million. You guys have 10 times the population of Canada and put far more money into your sports than we do. So of course you are better at most of them! We can't afford to try and be great at all sports like you can so we put all of our eggs in one basket! Edit: Two baskets... remember two gold medals in curling lol DAMNIT! I didn't want to know the mens curling final I was gonna watch it *sigh*

So hockey is the most popular sport up there and like 5th down here in America. But they always barely beat us. Lol. Wanna play basketball? Won't be close. Although I don't mind Canada having hockey. Cool for them they won. I was really hoping we'd get at least one (men's or women's) but it is what it is. You don't dominate the sport like the Netherlands do

Considering that the NBA might have the last 2 1st overall picks being Canadian.... No idea what any of that means, but I trust you do. hehe Edit: Been watching this curling, China today. More I watch, the less sense it makes. Only me, right? lol Edit #2: Great game, and don't think I'll be spoiling much to say congrats Canada. Was hoping the scoring would be a but more, but it was intense from start to finish, unlike any other game I've seen so far. Canada deserved it, it's their game, half our players are from there, it's all good perfect.

I think the USA could become sooooo much better at hockey if we actually invested in the sport. Generally speaking, the USA's best athletes always go into either football or basketball. If our top notch athletes starting going into hockey we'd become dominant IMO. Shame we don't.
But the inverse is also true.. If Canada focused more on basketball or football instead of hockey, they'd become tons better at those sports as well.

From Ace's comment, in the NBA draft, last year's first overall pick was a Canadian and there is another Canadian who could potentially go first overall again this year.

Local gov't can't afford expensive hockey rinks. Do you know what they cost to build and run, cuz I do, being a construction news reporter for many years. Minnesota, land of 10,000 lakes = 10,000 skating rinks in winter. Barring that, the cost of developing hockey starting even at the high school level in most metropolises would be exhorbitant at the local gov't level. In NYC we didn't have a tennis court or swimming pool in most high schools. How is Canada gonna focus on basketball with 1/10 or 1/9th the population and the population of blacks is 3% en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Canada - take out Toronto and Quebec, it's probably 1%. The U.S. has at least 100x, maybe 1000x more physically prototypical B-Ball guys than they do. Yeah, the 6'2" white boys could never compete with the U.S. in a million years. Just like native U.S. players will never be better at hockey.

Just like native U.S. players will never be better at hockey. Agreed to an extent. USA has proven they are pretty much as good as Canada at hockey. The top tier of American players is almost even with Canada, however Canada has the depth to field multiple teams that couple compete at a very high level. USA's current star power doesn't reach much beyond what we saw at the olympics. In Canada, we all have rinks at our school grounds and we often play street hockey for fun in the summer and floor hockey in gym class. Hockey is a way of life. Places like Minnesota and some of the other northern States are similar, but not to the extent that Canada is. It is unlikely that we will see a massive influx of superstars from Missouri or Alabama, given that they don't have the weather that makes 'ice hockey' something that the kids can do for fun. Look at Brazil and many other similar countries for soccer. That is how we are with hockey. America is catching up to us because their junior and college programs are improving, but Canada set the standard. That is how it often happens... one place has a system that proves to work very well and eventually other countries learn from that. Look at basketball for example. It is a slow moving process, but we are seeing more and more foreign players succeeding in the NBA. International teams like Spain and Argentina, and some others, are getting more competitive. Of course USA is still completely dominant, but at least other places have started the process of improving.

Both are Canadians.. and I don't see how black people have anything to do with fielding a good team. Yeah, majority of the NBA are black people but that's because that is the sport they play as a kid not because of their ethnicity. Spain has the 2nd best basketball team and the majority of their team are not black.

Welp, guess it's time awesomeace, Jindred and I say our good-byes. Remember, our American counterparts, make sure you give him his bottle at least three times a day (I believe Dos Equis is his bottle of choice), but if you give it to him right before bed he gets cranky and wants to drag race. And never let him sit in the seat closest to the limo driver because he tends to get really assaulty, especially after he's had his bottle. And for god's sake keep him away from the recording studio... we all know the pain and suffering he causes when that happens. And above all else, don't forget to sing him his bed time song... *Sniff*
