Canada vs USA women's hockey was unreal. Didn't watch it but heard about it on radio. USA misses an open net by half an inch. Now the men are going at it tomorrow. US & Canada at noon, this is the one to watch. Okay, what % of the Canada team are NHL players? I bet most of them are citizens of Canada, or dual citizenship. lol

I am 100% behind team Canada, but there isn't a single player on team USA I dislike! Where as on Canada I can't stand Jeff Carter, really don't think he should be there.. As far as team Canada all of our players where born in Canada many of them live in states now as they play for American teams. There are actually two guys from my city playing on team Canada and my oldest brother knew them, he actually played on a baseball team with the one!

Just wondering how many U.S. players were actually born here. I'll most most of them were born in Canada as well. lol Was gonna ask why Canada doesn't have their own NHL, but guess most of the decent-sized Canadian cities that can support it are covered. Just checked, 7, wow. 2 Albertas, no Saskatoon, no fair!!! haha But seriously, we stole the entire sport from you guys, right? Had to.

Well I know Cam Fowler one of your defensemen was born in Canada, then moved to America at a young age. Aside from him don't know about anyone else. I wouldn't say you guys stole the sport from us lol. You go down to America and even in the northern states its an absolute bitch trying to find any kind of hockey on the TV especially if you just want highlights on a sportscenter. Up here people live and breath hockey in the winter every other sport comes second to hockey, you know how parents are with football down south? Its like that here. Also remember Canadians still populate 50% of the NHL where as America is closer to 20% Of course even as little as 10 years ago it used to be about 75% but meh as long as its around 50 I am good lol. There is a reason why Saskatoon nor Regina has a hockey team and that's that they don't believe we can support one. However I maintain that either city would do a hell of a lot better than most of the southern state teams.. Of course Gary Bettman (Commish of the NHL) is a prick and hates Canada along with most of the owners in the NHL so seeing another Canadian team would be a miracle even though it would easily be more profitable than teams like Florida, Pheonix .. I am actually happy the NHL is partly American. In America sports become more popularized than they do here, they get more money and that equates to drawing in better players from everywhere which equals better competition! It would be really boring if Canada just dominated world hockey all the time, rivalries with America, Russia and Sweden make the sport awesome!

Where is that other 30% cominbg from? Guess the usual suspects, Russia and Scandinavia? IDK how the NHL schedules are determined. If it's anything like the NFL, looks like they are ripe for a 2-team expansion. www.nhl.com/ice/teams.htm But IDT parents here are as nuts with the football as they are in baseball. Peewee league, little league, it's endless. And it's always been America's game, with a richer or 'more compelling' history. And of course more of a family outing, warmer weather, etc. NFL is catching up. And then there is basketball, which most inner city kids can partake in with the only resource required being a basketball. So yeah, I can appreciate how hockey means the world to Canadians, it never will here - too much competition, and of course, not enough 'safe' ice. Game is underway - already exciting with the shots on goal. Not a dull moment so far, unlike every last other game I've seen so far. haha Enjoy!!

Russia, Sweeden, Finiland, Czech Republic and Slovakia are the big ones. The NHL has talked about expansion, but as of right now their isn't really many places that could support a team in the states and like I said Bettman and the majority of owners fight to keep more teams from going to Canada.. so its unlikely. I guess I was more so thinking the southern states and highschool football. But I could see Baseball being crazy too. Either way picture whatever your worst/best sports parents are and that would be hockey parents lol. And this game has been crazy so far! Its really exciting! I am absolutely terrified watching this!

I guess maybe the Florida Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes. The Predators, Stars, and Lightening all have rabid fanbases though.

As far as those 3 teams have rabid fanbases I would disagree. Dallas put tickets at teh cheapest price in the league and their ticket sales still declined. They averages 54% capacity Again Tampa has a hell of a time selling out and they also dropped there ticket prices in a "Bring It Back" fan initiative. The Preds I will give you but they are an anomaly of the southern teams in hockey.

Guess things have changed quite a bit.

Guess things have changed quite a bit. All teams become more popular when they win. Most of their fan base is probably left over from the 1999 Stanley Cup. Same reason why LA is doing so much better than they were. You put a winning team on the ice and your fan base expands.
