Beat me to the thread Hdog, but no biggie Right now, here is the Cleveland roster as it stands right now: PG: Kyrie Irving SG: Dion Waiters, CJ Miles, Carrick Felix SF: Alonzo Gee, Sergey Karasev PF: Tristan Thompson, Anthony Bennett C: Anderson Varejao, Tyler Zeller That is currently 10 players, and the Cavaliers are looking into bringing back SG Wayne Ellington and PG Shaun Livingston. The Cavs are weak at the backup PG spot, but I am assuming with the plethora of shooting guards we have, that Dion will play a lot of backup point. We also need a center. Rumors have been thrown around that Cleveland is in the hunt for Andrew Bynum, and I can see it happening. Bynum almost went to Cleveland last year in a trade including Dwight, and Mike Brown has just coached Bynum last year while with the Lakers. A lot of Cavs fans are against the move, but I actually want it to happen. Bynum can be one of the best centers in the league if he gets his head straight, and having Bynum, Varejao, TT, and AB as a frontcourt is amazing, and would help KI and DW tremendously. Cleveland is also interested in Earl Clark, who is a SF and stretch 4. Mike Brown had him as a player last year, and likes him a lot. --- One last thing. I was listening to the press conference and all of the interviews post draft, and Chris Grant, the GM of the Cavaliers, and Mike Brown, the coach of the Cavaliers, have stated that AB is a PF and that Karasev might be better off as a SG for the beginning of his career due to lack of toughness and guarding SFs. So if you take that into account, Gee is still our only true SF, with talent LOADED at the other spots. Does Cleveland actually think they can get LeBron next year? I am not one to speculate, but say he DID come back next year. This would be the roster: PG: Kyrie Irving SG: Dion Waiters, Sergey Karasev SF: LeBron James PF: Tristan Thompson, Anthony Bennett C: Tyler Zeller He would have a BUNCH of young studs around him, not to mention whoever Cleveland nabs in the 2014 Draft and in FA for this year and next. Just saying. The way this roster is currently shaping up, it appears that Cleveland is looking to do SOMETHING BIG next year. Can't wait to see the landscape of the NBA change within the next week or two. Lets go!

For my Bulls, here is the roster that we have now
C;Joakim Noah PF;Carlos Boozer,Taj Gibson SF;Luol Deng,Jimmy Butler SG;Rip Hamilton PG;Derrick Rose,Kirk Hinrich,Marquis Teague
Rookies drafted;Tony Snell (SF/SG)(1st round),Erik Murphy) (PF)(2nd round).
We're expected to resign veteran Nazr Mohammed back, and look to release Hamilton if nobody wants him (don't know why we haven't let him go already,he's done almost nothing here).Butler is most likely to become our starting SG (be surprised if he isn't,unless we sign a good one),and Snell would back him up.We're looking to sign a 3 point shooter who can stretch the floor and fit into our rotation, and we have Nikola Mioritic in Europe right now,and we're expecting him to come over and be the possible Boozer replacement if we let him go (I'm in the middle on that one).
If we land O.J Mayo,Iggy or Ellis (want O.J more than anyone, since he's a good scorer but doesn't need the ball to be effective),which I am finding unlikely,we're probably going to start Butler at the 2 guard spot, and sign a consistent 3 point shooter, which we have been lacking since we traded Korver away to Atlanta.J.J Reddick comes to mind, but we were missing that last season.
I think our roster will look like this by the time the '13-14 season tips off
C;Joakim Noah,Mazr Mohammed PF;Carlos Boozer,Taj Gibson,Eric Murphy SF;Luol Deng,Tony Snell SG;Jimmy Butler,J.J Reddick (if we get him) PG;Derrick Rose,Kirk Hinrich,Marquis Teague
Thibs rarely plays his rookies,so they can learn his system (his defense is very hard to learn, that's why it's so good if they're all on the same page). He did it with Jimmy Butler last year, and he was a big factor with the Bulls in the 2nd half of the season, especially with all the injuries.Case in point,we might sign someone to back up Deng (who's almost 30,and has led the league in Minutes Per Game since Thibs came here),and let Snell and Murphy learn for a year, which is the Thib way.
Either way,I think we'll be a Top 2 Eastern Conference team (we've been the top 2 in the 2 years Thibs was here before last season, and we could've made it 3 years in a row if Rose didn't tear his ACL).We've played the best against the Heat since LeBron went to South Beach (NBA stats prove that),and we can beat ANY team in the NBA in a 7 game series,Miami,OKC,San Antonio,Indy and Brooklyn included in that statement.
People can say that Rose doesn't mean anything to the Bulls after last season with the 5th seed last year without him at all,but I think the 2011 season alone can prove that that's wrong, because the Bulls were the top seed, and Rose won the MVP (note that he's the only player to do that in the last 5 years without the name LeBron James).
EVERY SINGLE TEAM should be afraid of the Bulls, and I'm now getting off the soap box

H24 : OJ Mayo, in a lot of ways, makes more sense than Reddick, as does Buddinger. Our second unit needs a scorer, but we also need someone that can create their own shot. Reddick presents the same issues that we have had, with Rose in. Rose is the only real ball-handler, any pressure defense, disrupts the Chicago team.
I would argue that the EG for Deng trade will be revisited. There is no way I see EG staying on the Pelicans; that bridge has been burnt. Furthermore, Murphy is probably never going to develop into a player so there is a real possibility that we pursue Carl Landry or Birdman to shore up our bigs, especially since we need someone to spell Noah.
I think the Bulls made the right call with Snell, but we have work to do.
Edit: Dalembert could go for the vet minimum and be a perfect backup center.

The Roster
On July 1st, 2013 Portland's prospective roster reads: Point Guard: Damian Lillard with C.J. McCollum the presumptive backup. Shooting Guard: Wesley Matthews with McCollum in reserve and 2nd rounder Allen Crabbe a possibility. Small Forward: Nicolas Batum with Victor Claver and Will Barton fighting for reserve minutes Power Forward: LaMarcus Aldridge backed up by newly aquired former #5 pick Thomas Robinson Center: Meyers Leonard with Freeland and possibly 2nd rounder Jeff Withey
To supplement this group the Blazers have approximately $11.8 million in cap space, a "room" exception maxing out at $2.5 million per year for 2 years, and the ability to sign as many minimum-level contracts as necessary.
Roster Analysis
Even though the addition of McCollum (and perhaps Crabbe) bolstered the backcourt Portland's roster still shows major holes.
The most glaring void is the center position. Meyers Leonard showed flashes of promise on offense last season but showed no sign of being able to defend the position even in limited minutes. Hopefully he will have worked on his game over the summer but the distance between him and starting was so vast that projecting him in that role in October, 2013 would be optimistic.
People are already optimistic about Jeff Withey because of his shot-blocking and because he's an unknown quantity. Not-yet-demonstrated flaws are easy to ignore. Most second-round picks fall to that draft position for a reason. Perhaps Portland got a steal with the 39th pick of the draft. Then again, there's no guarantee Withey will make the team, let alone make a significant dent in the rotation.
Summation: Staring Centers = 0. Bankable Centers = 0. Number of centers you'd trust with more than 12 minutes per game in speculative reserve duty = 0.
Frontcourt bench depth is another obvious weakness. Freeland, Victor Claver, and Will Barton aren't untried; they've been tried too much and have come up short. Barton and Claver have shown promise in isolated areas for brief times, but they're the kind of guys you carry deep on your roster to experiment with, not rely on in key reserve positions.
Even if McCollum becomes a reliable and productive 6th man combo guard, the Blazers are two players short of a comfortable rotation. They need a starting center, and a reserve small forward. This assumes that Leonard and Withey can split back-up center duty. If not the Blazers also need a substitute five. Don't even ask what happens if McCollum struggles.
The Key Question
The biggest question facing the Blazers as they find their way forward from here is whether they're planning to build around LaMarcus Aldridge long-term. Rumors of Aldridge's discontent--or at least impatience--circled last week's draft like so many vultures over a desert-bound depth chart. His contract runs two more seasons, the maximum amount of time the Blazers are guaranteed to have him and a devilishly small window in which to make long-term decisions.
If the Blazers believe they can retain Aldridge beyond the next two years their task is clear: fill as many of their holes with productive, veteran players as possible. This is no easy task.
Starting center is the obvious priority this summer. $11.8 million might buy a long-term quality starting center...maybe.
If Portland fails to obtain a center and suitable reserves they leave themselves unbalanced. In the worst-case scenario (no quality center at all) they waste the efforts at the other four positions and lose games lacking defense and rebounding. In the best-case scenario (center on board but missing the reserves) they will be forced to play starters long minutes and leave themselves vulnerable to injury or fatigue.
At minimum the Blazers will need to address the center position and get one quality reserve over the next two months. They could probably make it through the season on that basis and hope to use a mid-level exception to sign the second quality reserve next summer, then hope that's enough to make Aldridge believe in his future here.
If Aldridge Is Not Part of the Long-Term Plan
The Blazers already have a huge hole at center. If LaMarcus Aldridge leaves this roster, structural failure occurs in that frontcourt and there is no roster anymore. The Blazers are then in a complete rebuilding situation. Lillard and presumably McCollum would become the new foundation with future cap space and trades for draft picks and young players becoming a priority.
Presuming they don't just let him walk in two years the Blazers will get assets in return for Aldridge. It's unlikely that those assets would remake the roster immediately. Teams don't trade All-Stars in return for All-Stars. They want to acquire your All-Star to pair with their own, not to replace him. Otherwise it's a lateral move. Younger talented players, future draft picks, and cap space make All-Star deals happen. In a rebuild situation the Blazers would covet all three.
In this scenario Portland's immediate priorities invert. Grabbing some kind of veteran center is essential if Aldridge stays. Signing Samuel Dalembert and trading for Marcin Gortat are both viable options. Chasing Kyle Korver to help at small forward could work as well. But acquiring semi-expensive veterans to support, but not revolutionize, your roster makes no sense if you're rebuilding. You don't even know what they're supporting. What kind of center will you need in the future? Will Nicolas Batum's $11 million contract still make sense? If not, you're now acquiring Korver as a mediocre starter, not a fantastic reserve. Everything changes with context. Contract, age, and ceiling become as important as talent, experience, and skill set.
In case it's not obvious by now, the decision to build around Aldridge or not will determine the value of incoming players and the direction of the team in the near future.
Summation
Three things have changed since last Thursday morning:
1. C.J. McCollum might cover the Blazers' need for a 6th man and primary reserve in the backcourt. That would alleviate some of the financial and talent pressure from this summer's free-agent run.
2. It's even more of a might, but Jeff Withey might cover the need for a short-minute reserve center, freeing up Portland's room exception for a different reserve.
3. If the Blazers feel safe gambling on Allen Crabbe they might figure that he and McCollum make Wesley Matthews more expendable, making him available in trade scenarios. This is also a huge might, as Matthews is a starter and a proven player, neither of which apply to McCollum and Crabbe.
Even if most of these mights become reality the Blazers are still trying to thread the eye of a needle meeting their needs with the cap space and trade resources they have available. Unless a Dwight Howard displacement center falls into their laps, finding a quality starter at that position remains a riddle. If that doesn't happen, nothing else they do will compensate, nor would next year's cap exceptions and draft picks be likely to solve the problem. At that point both they and LaMarcus Aldridge would have to consider whether the future together would be rosy or just more wheel-spinning into oblivion.
Either way, we should be able to tell Portland's general direction by the next moves they make in free-agency. The more cap space they devote to experience the likelier they are to consider retaining Aldridge as the key to their future. A youth movement or a propensity to gamble on smart value picks instead of proven performers may signal that the starting center conundrum proved unsolvable and a rebuild is underway.
Either way, I see Paul Allen siting on his hands as he always does and Portland being irrelevant for years to come. Hope this doesnt happen.

I didn't hear of the Deng for Gordon deal.Idk about it though,Gordon has always been hurt. I don't like the move of keeping Nazr.I hope we get a dude that is like Noah,Anderson isn't a bad choice. But I think Anderson would be the backup C,and Nazr would need to take a back seat, and idk about that.

Rumor has it we signed SG Mike Dunleavy. He's a good 3 point shooter (42% last season with the Bucks),and he can fill the 3 point shooting hole that we've had since Korver left.Along with that,he's also 6'9",and most SG's are taller than 6'7",sp we have a little height advantage.
He isn't a good defender, but we know Thibs can get anyone to defend.Meh,I'll take it,as it looks like Mayo is headed to the Clips in a sign-and-trade deal for Eric Gordon

I hope the Hornets/ B__cats spend NO money this offseason and suck for 1 more year.
Then we are supposed to have 3 first round picks next year, all 3 COULD be lottery, hopefully we finally get lucky with the lottery after being shafted by it the last 2 years. Make good picks, then spend in FA next year after the hopefully great draft that gives us 3 great young players.
Then most importantly we will be the Hornets in the fall of 2014!
I can dream of all this happening...
