Jerod Mayo has redone his deal. Current cap implications are unknown, although we are guessing around 4 million in savings this year.
I expect a veteran LB will be signed in early May when players no longer impact the upcoming compensatory formula. Colin Mccarthy seems to be a likely candidate, as well as a Brandon Spikes reunion.

I seriously hope Colin McCarthy gets another shot. No one plays as all out as him, he just keeps moving and hitting everything that moves. His back and knees pretty much gave out in Tennessee though. After his rookie year, a lot of people were talking about him as a top 10 linebacker in the league, and his career just fell apart. If he's healthy he could absolutely become what he was coming out of Miami. I wish him the best. This is one of my favorite NFL plays period, and it just happens to be on the Titans:

He was here on day 1 for a visit, and from a Patriots standpoint that almost always leads to a contract, its just a matter of when. I hope we bring him in(and I am pretty sure we will), although I really want Spikes back as well.

I wouldn't sign him or expect that his career is anything but over. His injuries are career ending in my medically unqualified opinion. You should probably call in a certain forum member for an xray.

From a draft standpoint I expect this draft to be all about getting good value. I see a trade down as the most likely first round option at this point, unless there is extremely good value. I expect we will draft two RB's, likely between the 3rd and 4th round where there will be incredibly good value.

I too have heard that the Patriots will trade out of the first. I believe it. I think the biggest need they have is guard, and there's a lot of depth after their pick. I think they'll move back and draft someone like Ali Marpet, AJ Cann, or Tre Jackson.
Often there is very good value available at the end of the first, largely because teams from 20-32 typically draft very poorly. It just depends on New England not messing up after the teams at the end of the first do.

From a team perspective we could use depth more than any one position, thus the projection of a trade down. My ideal draft would consist of a guard or DT in the first, and either a guard or DT in the second, two RB's in the 3rd, two edge rushers in the 4th, and whatever good value is left in the 6th and 7th. Very rarely do I successfully predict New England's draft picks. Last year Easily was on a list of like 10 guys I had as possibilities, and that is about as good as my projections are lol.

I don't like to brag but I successfully mocked Hightower and Jones coming to NE in that one community mock draft
