I love doing this. It's a long time until September folks.
1. vs Vikings: Vikings win 27-20
AP will be fresh and the Titans have a lot of new pieces to work into the system. The Titans have won our last three openers, and they were all upsets, but that means nothing in reality.
2. @ Lions: Titans win 17-0
I personally think Detroit could be the league's worst team next year, so this isn't as much an indication of how good I think Tennessee is, but how I feel about the Lions.
3. vs Raiders: Raiders win 42-38
Oakland is an incredibly young team that needs to keep learning and improving, but I think Amari Cooper is going to be simply unstoppable and make this one a shoot-out.
4. @ Texans: Titans win 21-7
Houston has had Tennessee's number, but Mariota never got a shot at Houston last year. I think he will carve them up, as Houston is typically awful against teams who have even decent quarterbacks.
5. @ Dolphins: Titans 35-17
Much like Detroit, I have no expectations for Miami this year, at all.
6. vs Browns: Titans win 26-20
The Titans get to play the first half of their six games against Cleveland, Detroit and Miami. That should be illegal. CLE will have a rookie QB or RGIII, who might be healthy by week 6, so I think this will be closer than people think. The Browns also dominated our o-line last year and Mariota 17 times, which may have been an NFL record.
7. vs Colts: Colts win 23-20 in OT
We're probably riding a bit too high after the easy start to the year, and I expect Luck to be hitting his stride by midseason. People are too low on him now, which is ironic since they were insanely high on him at this time last year.
8. vs Jaguars on TNF: Titans win 20-10
The Jags aren't nearly as close as they're being hyped to be, but we usually split with them and play them close. Tennessee completely collapsed and handed the Jags the game last year on TNF, I think we won't this time.
9. @ Chargers: Titans win 27-20
San Diego isn't the third worst team in the NFL, although they hired Ken Whisenhunt as their OC, which is the main reason I think we will beat them. They'll have a two TD lead in the fourth and Rivers will throw like they're down 17 while Whiz puts in the nose tackle at punt returner.
10. vs Packers: Packers win 38-17
We're not even close. Green Bay is my SB pick right now.
11. @ Colts: Colts win 20-7
The team might be demoralized after a blowout and the Colts matchup very well against the Titans.
12. @ Bears: Bears win 24-17
Look for Chicago to be mediocre this year and on the edge of playoff contention with Tennessee as a must win.
BYE in week 13? Seriously?
14. vs Broncos: Broncos win 28-14
The Titans season starts looking bleak after dropping to a really good team with no QB
15. @ Chiefs: Titans win 26-20OT
Tennessee gets the season turned around at the last possible moment with a narrow win. An ultra late bye week doesn't hurt our chances here.
16. @ Jaguars: Titans win 35-28
Tennessee will be playing for something and I really doubt that Jacksonville will. Edge Titans.
17. vs Texans: Titans win 23-7
Who will Houston's QB be in week 17. I see Osweiler on the bench and a late round rookie or Tom Savage throwing a few picks.
Final record: 9-7, second in the division, Colts win the AFC South at 10-6. AFC wildcard? Probably not, but who knows.
Actual playoff seeds:
1. New England
2. Pittsburgh
3. Indianapolis
4. Kansas City
5. Baltimore
6. Denver
1. Green Bay
2. Seattle
3. Carolina
4. Philadelphia
5. Atlanta
6. Washington
