No love for the Hogs... I'm watching ESPNU "Who will have a bigger impact coming off of injury? Knile Davis or Marcus Lattimore" Results: 78.6% - 21.4% in favor of Lattimore. Ok..I USED to say Lattimore is better than Davis, but hold on a second...Let's compare some stats for 2010:
Lattimore - 249 ATT, 1197 YDS, 4.8 YPC, 17TD
Davis - 204 ATT, 1322 YDS, 6.5 YPC, 13TD
Looking at 2010, Davis wins by quite a bit.. Davis had 45 less carries, 125 more yards, 1.7 higher YPC, and 4 less TDs. Davis got 6 carries or less in the first 4 games...In those 4 games he got 121 yards. He got 10 in the next game against Auburn. After that game, he started playing a big role in the offense. He got 1201 yards in his last 9 of the season (more than Lattimore over the whole season.)
Knile Davis (from week 4-end):
Bama - 6 carries, 42 yards, 7 YPC
A&M - 10 carries, 82 yards , 8.2 YPC
Auburn - 14 carries, 92 yards, 6.5 YPC
Ole Miss - 22 carries, 176 yards, 8.0 YPC
Vandy - 19 carries, 82 yards, 4.3 YPC (not so good here)
SC - 22 carries, 110 yards, 5.0 YPC
UTEP - 11 carries, 182 yards, 16.5 YPC
Miss St - 30 carries, 187 yards, 6.2 YPC
LSU - 30 carries, 152 yards, 5.1 YPC
Ohio St. - 26 carries, 139 yards, 5.3 YPC
Aside from Vandy, Miss, and UTEP, all those defenses are good to great. Let's look at Lattimore's..don't feel like posting all of it so I'll give a link
Marcus Lattimore:
www.cfbstats.com/2010/player/648/1033780/rushing/gamelog.html
here's the stats against a couple decent defenses:
Georgia - 37 carries, 182 yards, 4.92 YPC
Auburn - 14 carries, 33 yards, 2.36 YPC
Bama - 23 carries, 93 yards, 4.04 YPC
Arkansas - 11 carries, 30 yards, 2.73 YPC
Florida - 40 carries, 212 yards, 5.30 YPC
Clemson - 23 carries, 48 yards, 2.09 YPC
Auburn - 16 carries, 84 yards, 5.25 YPC
They're not even comparable to Davis' in 2010. Davis had less carries (mostly because the first 4-6 games), more yards, and 1.7 higher YPC. Once he took over, he didn't have ONE bad game. His worst was against Vandy where he had 4.3 YPC on 19 carries. Lattimore, on the other hand, had less than 5 YPC on 5 of 7 decent or better defenses (Davis 1), highest YPC was 5.3, and was under 3 YPC 3 of 7 of these games with better defenses.
2011:
163 carries, 818 yards, 5.02 YPC, 10TD

Wanna see his stats against decent defenses??
Georgia - 27 carries, 176 yards, 6.52 YPC (I'll give him this one)
Auburn - 17 carries, 66 yards, 3.88 YPC
Miss St. - 17 carries, 39 yards, 2.29 YPC
(Vandy - 20 carries, 77 yards, 3.85 YPC)
He is putting up only mediocre stats against any decent defense (exception of Georgia), while Davis put up great stats no matter who he played. But Lattimore is widely considered the best RB in the nation and is expected to be a top 10-15 pick while I hardly even see Davis in the 1st in mocks..WHY!?
EDIT: I should also add that Davis IS 100% and Lattimore isn't yet..
