Alright, glad you're enjoying yourself. Dropping random insults, and posting nonsense to avoid any questions you don't feel like you can answer because you're tired of dealing with us 'White Liberals' Nice string of posts Beast. Shows a lot about you.

Shows a lot about you. Beastified Or you could stop randomly trolling the Chiefs thread and keep it here, where the discussion originated. And make my case for what? How you just stopped trying to address questions made to you, and started posting random insults because you don't know how to reply?

Wow Beastified... I started to respond to your first post, then stopped myself because the last time you and I got into it, it ended with you bitching out of a debate that you challenged me to and then you deleted your account here. I didn't want things to get heated like that again so I didn't respond to your post. But if you are going to post all the bullshit you have been posting, call me out by name, make a bunch of absurd generalizations about what you consider to be the liberal community and then start trolling the thread when you have nothing of value to say, then fuck it, I'd rather this end with you quitting the forums again than see you continue to strut around with your cocky, 'I owned you all' attitude. Claiming racism isn't a big issue is such an ignorant, moronic thing to say. Maybe it's not an issue for you but many people still deal with major racism issues on a daily basis. Who are you to declare the world no longer 'that' racist? And it is not just up to the victimized minority to combat the issue. Maybe secretly video taping someone doing something wrong violates rights, but no one would be up in arms if what he did was more severe, like if Sterling was molesting children or killing people. But because he was 'just being racist' we should not hold him accountable? Had he known he was being recorded, he never would have said what he did? Well then it's a good thing someone had a recorder so people could see his true side. He owns a team full of black people and he was recorded talking about black people as though they aren't real people. He deserves what he got and it's a damn good thing people are up in arms about the issue. I would be embarrassed for humanity if this wasn't an issue.

He deserves what he got and it's a damn good thing people are up in arms about the issue. I would be embarrassed for humanity if this wasn't an issue. On 'blacks not being real people', I think this is the kinda thing craig440 was talking about as far as reading into what was actually said - but not a point I want to emphasize here. On molesting children or murder, these are crimes, felonies. Despicable as he is, goes without saying, what Sterling did/said was not even a crime. Might have been (not sure) if the ex-GF was actually an employee of his, but she is not. On the phone call, the illegality of taping a conversation is a total non-issue here, or at least a separate one. In fact, regardless of the consequences of multi-millions of dollars, her crime is probably a misdemeanor. lol Not even slander, all his words, regardless of how she may have goaded him. And she gave him no provocation for a lot of those words, even if glad to hear them. My guess is a slap on the wrist. (She ranted last night about having no idea how the conversation got out, but I digress). So good luck in Civil Court, Mr. Sterling. The main issue I see is one of punishment. The NBA is a self-governing body, and as all such bodies, operate within the boundaries of actual law. As Beastified and other have suggested, "They have a right to because it's under their code of law that he agreed to when he became owner of the team." As such, Silver acted within his authority to penalize him to the maximum extent. And there was really NO other viable option, a no-brainer. First off, no one wants to see that SOB in the stadium. But Silver knew he'd have every other owners' and players' support, at least publicly and for the record, and most fans as well. He also realizes the NBA is bigger than Sterling. It was reported that in last night's Clippers game, the Golden State Warriors were planning to walk right off the floor after the starting whistle blew if he hadn't received the maximum penalty. IMO, anything less, the backlash would be huge - it would never die, and they'd likely be calling for Silver's head as well.

Umm is that even legal? He was in his home, I believe, and he was being recorded? And he's getting fined $2.5M for something he said in a private conversation with his girlfriend? It's not like he went out in public and started insulting black people. He was having a private conversation in his home and was being recorded without his knowledge. And because of what he said in this private conversation that he said to no one other than his girlfriend, he's being fined $2.5M, being forced to sell the organization, ya know, the organization he bought, and banned. Do I agree with what he said? No, of course not. I hate that racism is still a problem. And I second what MO said about growing up in that time doesn't give you a free pass to be racist. It most certainly does not. But the fact is, this was a private conversation, a conversation he had in his home, with one other person, and he was recorded without his knowledge, and he's getting the punishment he's getting. And the fact that everyone thinks that this is all okay and great really bothers me. This is what really bothers me. I'm cool with the guy being shunned and fined etc. Because the NBA wants the country to know they don't want to associate with that kind of person. But why are more people not talking about how NOT OK it is that this all became public in the first place? Overall I'd like to stay out of this sort of topic because it has a way of getting messy. But yeah, I thought it was weird.. Screw Sterling for being a racist old fart, but I think his girl fiend is equally in the wrong. Why would she want to be with a known racist? And then throw him under the bus by record him in his own home and make it seem like she sort of baited him as well. I'm not saying he doesn't deserve to be punished for being a dick, but she might be in the wrong as well. Just seems fishy.
