Good stories bro's. I got nothing exciting going on this week. It did rain a lot yesterday which we needed. So saskabronco the red circles must be where your wife is right? What is she doing with the water samples? She's currently doing a post-doctoral fellowship at Dalhousie University where they are testing water downstream of wastewater treatment plants. They are looking for antibiotic resistant bacteria. It's hypothesized that wastewater treatment plants use some chemicals that are creating antibiotic resistent bacteria in the water systems, which has many negative implications to people who consume that water or other things that come into contact with it. Anti-biotic resistant bacteria can lead to us becoming immune to some antibiotics and thus less capable of defending ourselves from certain infections and illnesses. I probably butchered that explanation somewhat, but I think I got the basic point across. Interesting and I get the basic point. I have dealt with stuff like that on a smaller scale, but no less important to swimmers, for a long time. We in the pool industry deal with that exact thing. Not from wastewater though. But resistant bacteria and algae. We change our chemical treatment program on a loosely scheduled basis . Well I do. Not all pool people do.

It becomes more obvious who the favorite is Meanwhile I am sitting here all alone (not counting my three cats) in Halifax, 4,000 km away from the rest of my family and friends, while my wife is in Iqaluit, Nunavut (about 3,000 km north of the Canada-USA border) taking water samples and hanging out with polar bears... She actually saw a polar bear while she was at the airport. From Iqaluit she is going even farther North, to a place called Pangnirtung. Here is a map of where all of these places are, to help you guys visualize things. I'm sure many of you aren't overly familiar with Canadian geography, especially the northern territories. She ain't gonna be happy to be going further north later. How long is she up there? And no, don't wanna be any more familiar than what I can see from that map. haha

She likely won't have to go back up north again. They haven't been able to reach Pangnitung because the weather hasn't allowed for flights up there, but they always knew there was a chance they couldn't get there. If they were to have gone later in the year there would be next to no daylight. On Dec. 22 in Iqaluit the sun rises at 9:22 AM and sets at 1:42PM, giving only 4 hours and 20 minutes of daylight.

Close to 50/50 now all over the earth. Can't imagine what life is like for the relatively few that live in those type climes. Glad it's only for a week for her - and you. lol

Meteoric Rise: Noun.
Any term so stupid that people don't even give you the time of day explaining how stupid it is.
Andrea, can you explain Bernie Sanders' meteoric rise to fame?
Um, meteors fall from the sky, Bob. They don't rise. Like ever.

Why must they ruin every good ad by running it into the ground??? I'm talking to you DirecTV. But you aren't the only culprit. Know when to let it go! I really am boggled at what actually gets through and aired. I really feel like I could do a much better job than some of these companies current advertisement departments.
