I don't see how this couldn't be true from all the evidence deadspin provided. This is insane.

From the rest of the articles on that site, I find it very hard to believe this has any merit to it. You will find it hard to be taken seriously when you have an article titled: Lance Armstrong's biggest crime was being a huge asshole. Deadspin is a gossip site, not a legitimate sports website.

Did you read it? And that lance armstrong article was written by somebody else. You have no idea that the writer of this article isn't credible. This article provides plenty of facts. I.E., indisputable evidence.

Okay, ESPN is now reporting it. Gotta wonder what this will do to his Draft Stock if it is true...

ESPN is reporting the story as a hoax against Manti Te'o, insinuating that he is a victim in all of this as well. She was a girl he met online apparently and was made up by Tuiasosopo (Te'o's friend).
Not really sure what to believe now.

Notre Dame apparently knew that this was a hoax in December.

"On Dec. 26, Notre Dame coaches were informed by Manti Te’o and his parents that Manti had been the victim of what appears to be a hoax in which someone using the fictitious name Lennay Kekua apparently ingratiated herself with Manti and then conspired with others to lead him to believe she had tragically died of leukemia. The University immediately initiated an investigation to assist Manti and his family in discovering the motive for and nature of this hoax. While the proper authorities will continue to investigate this troubling matter, this appears to be, at a minimum, a sad and very cruel deception to entertain its perpetrators"
