That's disturbing panther. I'm much older and don't play video games. I hear a lot about how violent they are and the younger generation is raised on them. Many of you guys are young and have lots of young friends. I'm interested in you guys thoughts on weather or not that might play a role in some of these tragedies. When I was young we played baseball, football, kick ball, teatherball, and ran around the neighborhood all day. Watched I love Lucy and Bonanza and stuff at night. Do any of you ever see any of your peers kind of acting out video game stuff.

I'm not really sure about weather or not that these violent video games play a role in these tragedies, I guess they could but if you really are thinking about shooting little kids, it has to be more than just video games.
dunno about panther but I used to act things out all the time, espicially around the time when lord of the rings came out (usually against imaginary orcs, haha fun times), play with toy soldiers, stuff like that but we also played sports. As a young kid, video games weren't exactly a big part of my life until maybe grade 5ish. Nowadays, no not really. We might brag to our friends about that awesome game in COD but that's about it

Thanks Ace. I'm sure video games aren't going to make every kid into a real life shooter. But you know the subject is going to come up. This country is pretty upset and I think there may be some changes in our gun laws and people are going to be looking into how to stop this kind of thing. I think Video games and anti depressants like Riddlin and stuff will be looked in to pretty heavy.

Craig, I think the video games making people violent is a bit of a reach when the media tries to spin it that way. Some one failed this kid along his journey, and who ever that was should have been there to put video games and movies in their context.
It only takes two people to create a child, but it really does take the whole community to raise them. His actions where those of a true sociopath. For what ever reason he viewed himself either as less of a human, or something other then human. Where most people would have found their place it looks like he had some sort of inferiority complex. The note he wrote his mom coupled with what he did paints a picture of a person who was never accepted as being an ideal child, and I would assume that's what drove him to go into the school in his final moments.
It's an all too common narrative with the school shootings. The people who are the ones committing the crime are those who are overlooked, feel like they are nobodies, and people who generally would be described as wallflowers. Video games cannot replace the social context of life. Sometimes even the simplest gesture can advert tragedy, even if a conversation is so meaningless and forgetful to you, having someone take the time of the day to talk to you when you feel ostracized can be the world of difference. And thats why I blame society for things like this. It's far to easy in our culture to forget about the little people and way to easy for us to just walk on by them.
Irregardless in his final day, he became a monster, and committed the most horrendous of crimes. Regardless of how he got their that was his final choice, and instead of just exhausting the flame of his whole life he chose to take away so many innocent peoples future.

The whole violent video game theory is bs, in my opinion..
So people think a guy killed people because he plays games with guns in them?
By that logic, I guess the reason I got a speeding ticket because I played a street racing game.
See? Sounds stupid, doesn't it? That guy was obviously a lunatic and video games had nothing to do with it imo.

I'm not saying video games are to blame. I'm saying other people are bringing that up. I'm sure you have heard it.
Nice post Shaggz, I didn't see the letter he wrote to his mom. Do you have a link?

No what people I have talked to say is that the person who does this is more used to mass shootings due to playing video games, where you shoot everyone in the room. They don't think the video game caused it.
