Cardinals coming back! Reds are on fire so its time to start hoping the Pirates fall apart. Which I don't think they will. unfortunately, the reds are NOT on fire anymore. they are on a 3 game losing streak, but are leading the brewers 2-0 right now the fight for the NL central is back in business now. gonna be tough to decide on who is gonna come out on top. i think at least 2 of these teams will make the playoffs. all 3 will not make it though. reds are focusing on more than the division though now. we want that #1 seed from the nationals Reds have now lost 4 games in a row. The Pirates are 3 games back and should be only 2 games back after tonight as they are leading the D-backs 7-4 in the Top of the 7th.

Do not underestimate the Cubs just because they have lost 7 in a row. They are a scrappy team. The Reds also have to deal with the Pirates nipping at their heels at 2.5 games back. We aren't going away anytime soon. Marte is becoming more and more exciting to watch and Snider is starting to find his groove in Pittsburgh. Not to mention we have A.J. Burnett who is one of the most reliable pitchers in the MLB right now so don't expect us to have any long losing streaks like last season.

Even when we were doing terrible, a series against the Cubs was pretty much an assured win. I'm just saying, the Cubs are better than you think and it isn't smart to underestimate them just because of their record. Sure, the Reds will "probably" win this series, but with the injuries they have, the Reds could be in for a fight. The Cubs are also calling up OF Brett Jackson, their best prospect according to MLB.com. There are a lot of variables that are hard to account for this series. The Reds need to be careful if they want to stay atop the Division, let alone get the #1 seed.

All I am saying is that there is little room for error here. You better hope that the Reds do not start to fall apart which could happen if they are not careful. It isn't wise to act overconfident at this point in the season.

It isn't wise to act overconfident at this point in the season. overconfident is such a strong word. i would prefer "expectations" as a better example. sorry, but we red fans are expecting more. just like with your steelers, your expecting more than the division, a superbowl. while im expecting just my bengals to hopefully find a way to make the playoffs. the same can be said about baseball right now. im sure you want playoffs, and i think the pirates will get to the playoffs just fine. however, im expecting more than a division for the reds. this team is 10 times better than what they were 2 years ago. for the 1st time ever, i see a world series champion team. and i expect nothing less of it. i know im setting the bar high. i know im expecting too much to easily beat teams like the cubs, but thats what i want. and to say even more, i expect a sweep this week. yes, i think we can sweep the cubs. but its all on the rotation we are facing too. the bar is high, but i know the reds can get it done

I told you didn't I Bengal? The Cubs are a scrappy team. this bullpen has been a mess lately. how could the reds lose this game.... so i was wrong about the sweep which might make me look stupid. however, the reds can still win the next 3. they did the same dumb thing against the padres in a 4 game series where they lost the 1st game, but won the last 3 games. infact, they did that TWICE to them this year. and i dont wanna make excuses, but the game was on a rain delay too. the reds dont play well at all on rain delays i wouldnt be surprised if they win the next 3 still, so im not ready to eat crow just yet
