Do the Rams Have an elite Secondary?
The Rams are currently 2nd in the league (8) in interceptions, and would be 1st if it weren't for a spectacular 5 interception performance by the Bears last night. However, the Bears have 15 sacks compared to the Rams 6, meaning the Bears have more pressure on the line. My question is, do the Rams have an elite secondary?
Here are some stats to feed on:
The STL Ram secondary has only allowed 2 passing touchdowns in 4 games. They are tied for leading the NFL in that stat with Baltimore. Opposing passers only have a passer rating of 64.2. That is best in the league and just in front of Chicago.
STL has faced Matthew Stafford, Russell Wilson, Jay Cutler, and Robert Griffin III.
Are they elite?

Of these four QBs, none of them are quite good except for Griffin who is slightly above average, so, Rams secondary not elite
When they face a great QB we'll see

Hard to tell. The Rams are also ranked 26th against the run so it's possible OCs are taking advantage of that instead. Even with his off the field concerns, I was always a huge Jenkins fan and Finnegan has been a very good CB for years. We'll know for sure once we hit the half season point.

No. CBs Jenkins and Johnson are inexperienced and the Rams are weak at S. Johnson isn't popular with many Rams fans on the ESPN boards, although I think he was an excellent pick and a promising player. The run defense has been below average so far. That's to be expected when you lose both starters and one of the back-ups before the start of the season. The future looks bright.
