It's not really about the way he's playing... at least it's not for me anyway. I am simply fed up with the childish pouting on the sidelines and acting severely depressed whenever things start going south for him. And that pose in the endzone when the team is still behind by 2 TD's late in the third quarter certainly didn't help his case either. I've seen some people say he was just trying to pump up the crowd, but you don't have to showboat to do that. He's trying too hard to be an entertainer and not hard enough to be a true leader that's going to bring the team up when things are bad.
I'm not worried about his stats right now. I knew as well he would most likely decline his second year and wouldn't come close to putting up the numbers he did last season. I'll be patient regarding how he plays on the field, but his attitude needs to change right now b/c I don't want to have to wait 2, 3, 4 years for our possible franchise QB to mature in regards to how he acts and portrays himself.

I found this image quite stupid. First off, WHY is Cam white? I mean seriously? He's WHITE in this "cartoon", but he is really black. (no racism) Second, WHY the hell are you critizing Cam when he is 23, for something REALLY silly? Third, what is wrong with Cam's eye?

If the guy who did this was trying to be funny, he completely failed in that mission. There are much better ways to express disappointment and criticize somebody than using something that could be seen as insulting. At least the artist got the attention he was seeking...by ridiculing somebody else.

There are much better ways to express disappointment and criticize somebody than using something that could be seen as insulting. At least the artist got the attention he was seeking...by ridiculing somebody else. I don't see it as the artist mocking his Superman pose altogether. I see it as the artist making a joke out of how Cam was "pretending to be Superman" when he scored after spending the first 39 or so minutes of the game sulking on the sideline like a child. There's no issue with the pose itself... just an issue with him using it in that moment of the game. In other words, "Oh, so you're down 23-0 and have spent the first 39 minutes of the game sulking on the bench like a 2 year old and now you want us to believe that, all of a sudden, you're Superman b/c you finally scored a TD?" Panther, you say "he's only 23" like we should disregard it b/c he's still young and needs to mature... and hebert, you say he shouldn't be criticized in a way that could be seen as insulting? Do you guys remember how horribly Clausen, who was 23 years old at the time, was treated and insulted in 2010... despite the fact that he was a rookie QB playing on a gutted team during a throw-away year with a coaching staff that didn't care b/c they already knew they weren't coming back after the season? Clausen got it 10x worse from the fans than Newton is now and he handled it in a much more mature manner as a rookie than Newton is in his second year. Jimmy Clausen post game interview October 10th, 2010 after being embarrassed by the Bears 23-7: www.panthers.com/media-lounge/videos/Jimmy-Clausen-Postgame/314236e4-6578-4853-a2ec-707f96ced35fCam Newton post game interview September 20th, 2012 after losing to the Giants in a similar fashion 36-7: www.panthers.com/media-vault/videos/Cam-Newton-Postgame/6fef25e3-c39c-42c5-8af0-55ff01132043Do you see why people criticize his sulking and don't just chalk it up to him being young? If Clausen can handle all the hateful crap he got from everyone that well... as a rookie in a MUCH worse situation... Cam should be able to handle an embarrassing loss and a possibly "insulting" cartoon just the same.

bigd51, well, I'd feel attacked if I were in Cam's shoes. Never saw his TD celebrations as a display of arrogance. To me, the kid just wants to have fun and live for the moment. I don't expect him - or any other player for that matter - to hide the frustration of losing a game, especially the way they did last week. You brought up a good example, but players react differently to same situations. He's a great player and will learn from his mistakes, and that could include controlling his emotions.
