For the life on me I can't understand the Jet front office's love for Zach Wilson. Wilson is not even in the top 5 of the top 10 QBs to be taken this year. Please take the time to read and understand my logic as I detail why I think they are making a HUGE mistake Let's start with QB #1 Trevor Lawrence. Obviously he is the best pick and DAMN Adam Gase for fucking that up by winning meaningless games. This kid was in the college playoffs all three years including winning a National Championship, so he's definitely No. 1. However it is by no means a complete runaway from my Nos 2, 3 0r 4. Let me explain. No 2 should be Justin Fields. Look at his credentials, very similar to Lawrence's, undefeated in the Big 10, in the college playoffs including the National Championship game this year. His stats quite good so he is my 2nd QB off the board. Next in line are 2 SEC QBs, both highly talented and the differences are minute and you could flip flop either one, but because all evaluations always have a touch of partiality, I am going with Mac Jones. It is hard to argue with the HIGHEST ever season completion record of 77% and a National Champoinship and 2 receivers about to be 1st round choices. I know, I know, he had all this talent around him. That statement is ridiculous!!! Did not last years 1st overall pick Joe Burrow also have multiple 1st round choices surrounding him, Jefferson, Helaire and many others to drop names to. So I don't care about what these pundits may say, good players almost always have other good players around them, that is how they become good players. I haven't heard one guy ever drafted who they said had SHIT players around him and he still excelled. So Jones , not by leaps and bounds goes ahead of fellow SEC QB Kyle Trask at No. 4. You might ask why Trask is so high on my list. Excuse me this guy threw 96 TDs in the toughest league in college football during his tenure at Florida. Everybody is hyping TE Kyle Pitts. Kadarius Toney is slated to be a possible round one WR, so naturally it begs who is throwing to them. Now you might think Kyle Wilson would be next and you would be wrong, the next choice should be Notre Dame QB Ian Book. Ian Book, Ian Book, are you nuts. Well it is hard for me to overlook a guy with 30 victories at a school that plays top end competition and also another that is in the college playoffs contention year after year . His two TE Cole Kmet last year and Tremble this are draftees. And let us not forget Chase Claypool who was drafted by the Steelers So if you think Wilson is better please tell who his receivers are, because I haven't seen one mentioned in all the mock drafts I have seen. Add to that 3 years at BYU and only this year, the year of CoVid, did his team go 10-1 and lost to nationally ranked Coastal Carolina, who I am sure has n't been nationally ranked very often but since leagues like the Pac 12 and other did not have seasons or only partial seasons managed to be ranked in the top 25. But he made that great throw in his Pro Day, Well so did Justin Fields, and let me remind you, there were no pass defenders, no onrushing linemen in his face and despite that Sam Darnold actually did in a live NFL game, so spare the acclolades for Wilson sits at No 6 on my list. At No. 7 sits Trey Lance. I know, I know , what a physical specimen, look at his undefeated record at NDak St. Hey i am not saying he is shit, just doesn't deserve to be high on my list. I have a problem with the fact that out of high school , not one, I say that again not ONE, FBS team offered him a scholarship to play QB. Isn't that strange??? FCS is Div II football, not saying good players cannot come from there but they are not in the majority. Perhaps I am wrong, but I was skeptical about a running QB named RG III, who I wills ay started the NFL like a house of fire but ended up being a burnt cinder, so please excuse my avoidance of Lance, at least until he proves me wrong, however I do wish him the best as I do anyone and everyone who gets their opportunity in any facet of life. No. 8 is often injured Davis Mills of Stanford, not much to say only 13 games to evaluate but he has some upside IF he san stay healthy. Another SEC kid is next Jamie Newman of Gerogia . Juist because he faced top notched competition in the SEC gives him the No.9 slot. Finally comes Kellen Mond , whose Senior Bowl showing puts him in draftable territory. however I am not convinced to ne all that high on him. So there you have it my two WOODEN cents that will mean nothing to anyone just my chance to chime in among the millions with opinions. I hope you do me the honor however of at least joggling your mind for a minutes or so. I do hope for the best for you Jet fans, your undying faith in the IDIOTS that have occupied your front offices over the years are once again locked on to someone that I feel isn't your answer since the days of Broadway Joe Namath(whom I love by the way) This next part deals with your present coaching staff and the Shanahan coaching tree. Please understand i get it about first time coaches, As a former HS coach in basketball and baseball and girls basketball and softball I am well aware of each coaches desire to win with their own formula or other people's formula. I have learned over those years there is no set ONE WAY to do things and though Saleh was a very good coach for SF it is not set in stone he will be for the Jets. With that in mind and his offensive guru also coming from SF let me say this, this new OC is a disciple of Shanahan right Just who did Shanahan develop in SF?? It wasn't Jimmy G, he was developed in NE, and Nick Mullens or CJ Beathard certainly didn't have teams breaking dwon their doors to sign them. OK I'll give you Kirk Cousins while Shanahan was OC for Jay Gruden, and the RPO for RG III which virtually ended Griffith's career . You might add Matt Ryan , but Ryan was in the league for years before Shan was his OC, and Matt Schaub to excelled in the Shanahan system but he was already established . And now telling me how many QBs Saleh has groomed in his tenures and temper the expectattions for Wilson. I hope I am wrong and I very well could be but as I have said the options at No 2 look far more promising with Fields, Jones or Trask than as I see them for Wilson. I would prefer guys like Fields, Jones, Trask or even Book to a one season CoVid wonder like Zach Wilson
