Were I Jerry jones this would be my solution to his Prescott problem. TODAY, and I mean TODAY, I would offer Cincinatti a 2 1st round picks including switching to #10 this year, a 2nd round choice this year and 1st and 3rd round choices for 2022 to move up to #5 in the 2021 draft, thus insuring I would be able to get one of the top 5 QBs in this year's draft. I would then resign Andy Dalton. I know, I know , Cowboys fans you don't like Dalton but remember this Dalton finished the season on a pretty good run, he did win 4 of his 5 starts and remember he was knocked out early in that first losing spot, DiNucci and Garrett filled in for two weeks , both losses. I look at it this way, what does that trade up do for both teams. For Cincinatti, they lose the possiblity of drafting Penai Sewell, not an absolute but probably, but maybe Sewell will still be there at #10, if not they have their pick of any other OL in the draft or whoever else they might choose with that pick. What does it do for Dallas Well you let Dak become an unrestricted free agent and see if he can get some other team to pony up $40 million per year. personally I don't think there is ANY team that will give Prescott the money his is demanding to sign, it just doesn't make sense with only a $180 salary cap this year, he will have to bring his figure down or end up sitting out the year, that means no money this year. The other suitors waiting for the Texans to change their mind and let Watson go will have to make up their mind, do they wait until draft day or do they make a move now. I think the Dallas trade up forces their hands. Carolina, Chicago, and SF will all have to decide what they are going to do. SF on one hand would still have Garoppolo, Carolina, Bridgewater. the only one in a pickle would be Chicago. So will Carolina they offer to NY Jets or Miami, the same package that I heard they offered Texas of McCafferty, plus other 1st rounders and a 2nd. I don't think the Jets or Miami would want McCafferty and his high salary and would both prefer another 1st round pick. Don't get me wrong McCafferty is a very good RB, but why strap yourself with at least $15 mill against the cap this year, drafting a rookie would be much better and they seem to be going after pick #20 in the draft. Again don't get me wrong, I like Dak Prescott, but I think he ( and his agent) is overvaluing himself. As I said in my general discussion post, Dak is 10 and 11 the past two seasons after going 32 and 16 the first three. He is throwing more and winning less, a product of the deteriorating once formidable Dallas OL, that allowed Zeke Elliot to grind out 2000 yard from scrimmage during Dak's first three years, Zeke didn't have all the great of a year last year. is it because he is older, I say not necessarily, but that OL falling off seems more likely to me. Dallas has cap problems, a $ 37million frnachise tag isn't going to help anything, so for Jerry and the Cowboys sake, I say this is the best solution. I may be wrong, I hope so , but the again I think letting Dak go is the best answer, I just can't see another GM paying Dak , better than DeShaun Watson money, or close to Mahomes money to acquire a QB with the scenario I laid out above.
