As long as people are trying to tell me or others how we should live our lives (specifically calling specific acts sinful despite them causing no harm to anyone) then they have little to no respect from me. I'm not on this site to get people to like me. I like discussing issues. When people are willing to have discussions (ie. Asking/answering questions) then I am happy to engage. When people come here simply to preach words from a holy book and tell me or others that our actions are wrong with no justification, that's not a discussion and they can kindly shut the fuck up. The bible says its a sin. I'm not a bible guy. Although I respect it and listen. The church I go to now and then, the pastor once told me to take what made sense to me and leave the rest. I was having issues with it like you. But if you come to a conversation about this highly debated subject as this thread and start telling people to shut the fuck up because of their opinion, you are wrong. If you want to debate their opinion fine. Do you want everyone who disagrees with you to tell you to shut the fuck up? I know you will never see anyone else point. Especially mine. So if you can't talk decently about the subject SHUT THE FUCK UP. The subject of the thread is a highly contested issue with the bible community and the world. I'm sure you see it on facebook. So for you to say no one can come here and quote the bible is childish. What the hell did you expect. So take your narcissist, self serving attitude somewhere else unless you can try and look at peoples opinions with dignity. Man it's not like I just showed up here and started telling everyone to shut the fuck up. It's been two years of discussing these topics with the same people over and over. I'm fed up hearing the same stupid justifications by the same people over and over. I never said no one can quote the bible, but when that's all someone does and provides no other justification for their words and their hate, then I dont need to listen to the preach. I can pick up the book and read it myself (and I have). The bible says many things are sins, yet apparently people are allowed to pick and choose which parts to follow. You need more than words from the book to create a real argument. If all you have is what the bible says, then no one needs to read that crap...

Saska. If a man cheats on his wife and no one finds out. The bible says its a sin. No harm no foul by your book right? No one got hurt. But does that mean its not a sin? You seriously don't understand me at all... First of all, I don't have a book, I don't believe in sin, but I do believe in doing wrong. Cheating is a breach of trust regardless if you get caught. I don't need a book to tell me that, it's common sense. I have never and don't ever plan on cheating on anyone, and not because the bible says so. The bible also says eating shellfish is a sin. So is premarital sex. So is shaving your beard or getting a tattoo. Yet Christians do that shit all the time. So why is homosexuality so bad but all of those other things written in the same book are no longer seen as sinful? It's because the book doesn't mean shit. People determine what they want to do and not let others do, not God. It's a book written and interpreted by men. I'm no less moral than you or any other Christians, and I don't give a shit what the bible says. Morality is doing what is best for humanity, not holding back from doing bad because God said so.

He is telling his feelings. Hate would be saying something like, all gays should die. He is saying what he believes to be Gods word. If you are tired of hearing people talk about the bible sayings, I suggest you don't come to a thread like this. You are going to hear both sides. If you can't handle it, don't come here. By the way I could care less about gay marriage. I'm pretty sure the world has gone to chit for many other reasons than that.

Jeff is choosing to believe the parts of Gods word that he wants to believe. He's using the fact that it's in the bible to justify his feelings, but given that he is willing to reject so many other parts of the bible, what he is really doing is just telling us his personal feelings on the issue. He is personally against homosexuality, or else he would just ignore that bible verse like he does so many others. Justifying the withholding of rights based on personal views of a person is hateful in my mind. Homosexuals do nothing to harm him and many others, yet people think they reserve the right to make laws that treat them differently based purely on who they love.

saskabronco Stop telling people to shut the fuck up. They have the right to state their opinions thats the point of an open forum, and you telling them to shut the fuck up makes you and your argument look childish. I don't care if you are tired of reading it, you have the choice to stop reading it and responding the same as everyone else. Telling people to shut the fuck up doesn't do any good, it makes peoples minds shut off to your argument cause you are just acting like an asshole towards them at that point. It just turns things down the wrong road. Yea I get it, its frustrating discussing these things, and you are passionate about it, but you can still do it in a civil manner. I don't care how wrong you think they are, or how annoyed you are at them not seeing your point, some people just aren't going to, get over it. Stop being a dick about it, and stop telling people to shut the fuck up. Being hateful back doesn't solve the issue. In other words, discuss things without being a dick, or shut the fuck up

Saska. If a man cheats on his wife and no one finds out. The bible says its a sin. No harm no foul by your book right? No one got hurt. But does that mean its not a sin? Laws of the old testament were given to Israelites and no longer apply. When Christ came, there was a new covenant and the laws were essentially condensed into love the Lord your God and love the neighbor as yourself. The Israelites were told to not eat pork, shellfish, etc because it was unclean and there were ceremonial things like this in remembrance that a savior was to come. And it was to set Israel apart from the other pagan countries. When Christ came, he fulfilled the law and now we no longer have to do the things they did to be reminded of the savior's coming, but now we abide by the new covenant in celebration that he has already come. It also doesn't mean that all the laws of the of the old testament are just gone now like homosexuality, etc. The bible makes clear that it's a sinful lifestyle, while it never says eating pork, etc is a sin. As far as gay marriage though, I personally lean towards libertarian rather than Republican, and have mixed feelings. As a Christian, I hate to see what I view as sinful being viewed as perfectly fine and great, but that goes for all kinds of things in the world not just this. But I also believe in your liberty to live your life however you want to. I absolutely do not believe that this was a decision that the supreme Court has the right to make. I think the government shouldn't be involved in marriage. Straight people and gay people should both have a right to sign a contract with each other and marry, but the federal government needs to stop being so involved in everything in our lives. time.com/3939374/rand-paul-gay-marriage-supreme-court/

But yes saska, many Christians like to pick and pull what they want so they don't have to feel convictions for the things they do like pre-marital sex, divorce, etc...
I do it myself as well, it's in my nature as a sinner. We're not perfect and as sinners, we will all sometimes pull certain scriptures out of the bible to justify our actions and lifestyle.
