I have Peyton (6th rounder), but must get rid of him. Then I'd have the 6.9.
let's just say my trade partner wants Peyton and I want his early round keeper. That deal right there is clearly in his favor. Just for example, lets say he picks last (1.12), so he's got the 6.1. Following? So is this legal?...
I give him Peyton and my 6.9. Can he now trade me a player and his 6.1 (maybe I upgrade a later round), cuz he now has a 6th round spot to put Peyton in?? I don't believe this situation has come up before (?). But as you can see, this can result a nice trade perk for both parties in the early rounds.
Illegal, because I don't own both Peyton and 6.9 currently? But if so, what's to stop us to agree on a pick trade now (say my 6.9 for his 6.1, and my 10.9 for his 12.1 - now it looks even, right?), and he's got a place in the 6th to put Peyton. Then we'd agree to make a later trade swapping our players.
BTW, the new absolute deadline for trades at the BC6 is pushed to 8/22, and keepers must be posted by 8/23.

You can trade your sixth round picks. As long as he has a sixth for Peyton. I've done it before.

I would overrule it, even if it's legal. Because there's no reason for you not to do it (assuming I understand right, which I mean you can't keep Peyton even if you wanted to). Anytime two owners do something that gives one owner "something for nothing", it seems like it should be illegal. I'm okay with one-sided trades if the losing side justifies why, but something for nothing can brake the league and you may all regret it if the team that gets Peyton comes to dominate the league. I would suggest just letting Peyton enter the draft out of fairness to the league.

If you are keeping a player, as long as you have a pick in that round to keep him with, there is no problem.
I have done it before with Craig for Steve Smith.

At the very least, I would say a keeper takes the higher pick in the round if a player has two picks. So I'd say the 6.1 has to go for Peyton. Swapping the 6ths feels like trying to circumvent the spirit of the law to me.

Perfectly legal trade. Each is getting a player they want from the other and by swapping the 6th round picks the person trading P.Manning is getting a slight upgrade plus whatever other pick trade both parties agree to. Nobody is trading away a player for nothing so there should be no problem here.

Ya what Steeler said. All you are doing is getting a draft upgrade. It's just part of the deal. Same as if you gave up Peyton and switched forth rounds. The first year of the Graveyard league I had several good keepers, I swapped lots of rounds for up grades. That's part of the plan. Remember I had two picks in one round that I was keeping someone. We argued over which pick would be used for my keeper. It was decided my original pick was to be used for the keeper.
Remember, I fought that and lost the appeal. I still haven't gotten over it and still don't like you guys.
