I like Nix, top 5 talent IMO if it wasnt for the medical concerns. I agree it is unlikely we make the pick.

Mack played 90% of his snaps at 4-3 OLB. He played 10% at 4-3 DE. Neither of those positions exist in a 3-4 base. 4-3 DE is way more compatible to 3-4 OLB than 4-3 OLB is to 3-4 ILB. Khalil would be rushing off the edge from a two point stance. He's never done that. He's great at getting through the gaps and making plays in the backfield, but if he's going against he LT every single play in the NFL, he's not going to be used right. That's not to say he still won't be great, but you're wasting his talent. If I had a guy as good as Mack, I'd switch my system to 4-3 and play him at OLB. Watt can play 3 tech 4-3 for all I care Mack is more talented and has produced more. Clowney on the other hand is the perfect fit as a 4-3 DE (which Houston uses about 20% of snaps via sub packages), and as a 3-4 DE. He didn't play there in college, but he showed at his pro day that he has great lateral explosiveness and basic coverage ability on a short zone out of the 3-4. His 6'7'' height is going to make him a nuisance if he's clogging the left b-gap passing lane or the C. Half a QB's options on a given play are gone just because of Clowney's size and speed, even in a 3-4. Oh, and he can still rush like a maniac off the edge just like he did at 4-3 DE. I honestly think it's pretty silly to think he wouldn't be a successful 3-4 OLB. I think you're idea of playing Clowney at 3-4 DE is far worst of a fit if you ask me. He doesn't have the core strength for it what so ever unless he gains a ton of weight and muscle, which would negate his strengths. If Houston takes Clowney, you put him on the edge and tell him to get the QB, no ifs ands or buts about it.
