It has been awhile since I've been here, so I thought I would throw my mock draft into the ring, even though the draft is a few days away. So here goes:
Houston Texans-Jadeveon Clowney. DE, South Carolina. I think this guy has accomplished two things. 1)Proved everything necessary to be worthy of the #1 overall pick 2) Lived up to my description as "the ultimate game-wrecker."
St. Louis Rams (via trade w/Was)-Greg Robinson. OT, Auburn. Keeping Sam Bradford upright and healthy should be Jeff Fisher and Les Snead's #1 priority.
Jacksonville Jaguars-Johnny Manziel. QB, Texas A&M. They need a QB in the worst way and while he may be unorthodox and unconventional, he is an electrifying QB who can make Jaguars fans believe again.
Cleveland Browns-Sammy Watkins. WR, Clemson. Another team that needs a QB but with two first round picks they can wait for their passer and settle for the best pass-catcher in the draft.
Oakland Raiders-Khalil Mack. OLB, University of Buffalo. They reloaded on both sides of the ball and adding this dynamic defensive stud puts the cherry on the cake.
Atlanta Falcons-Jake Matthews. OT, Texas A&M. Investing in protection for Matt Ryan after the year he had would be a wise decision.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Mike Evans. WR, Texas A&M. 3 of the top ten picks hail from Texas A&M. This guy looks like a younger Vincent Jackson. Ironic isn't it?
Minnesota Vikings-Blake Bortles. QB, Central Florida. The Minnesota Vikings have Matt Cassel and Christian Ponder at QB. If they want to compete in the NFC-N, that has to change. Fast.
Buffalo Bills-C.J. Mosley. ILB, Alabama. The Bills struck gold with Kiko Alonso and the idea of giving him a wingman would help the Bills defense.
Detroit Lions-Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. S, Alabama. And we have a run on Alabama Crimson Tide players. The Lions' secondary gets a boost with this pro-ready DB.
Tennessee Titans-Teddy Bridgewater. QB, Louisville. And here is the shocker! With Chris Johnson gone and Jake Locker not living up to expectations, Ken Whisenhunt needs someone to bring life into this offense and though Bridgewater has taken a beating in this draft process, his game tape says that he is ready to go in the NFL.
New York Giants-Taylor Lewan. OT, Michigan. I have no idea how many times Eli Manning was hit but if the Giants want to bounce back, and Lewan is on the board, they should not hesitate on landing a quality LT.
St. Louis Rams-Darqueze Dennard. CB, Michigan State. The Rams could reach for a WR to help Bradford, but instead they take the BPA and Dennard would make life difficult for Carson Palmer, Colin Kapernick and Russell Wilson.
Chicago Bears-Aaron Donald. DT, Pittsburgh. Donald is the best interior DL in the draft and the Bears would love this new addition.
Pittsburgh Steelers-Justin Gilbert. CB, Oklahoma State. Mike Tomlin and Dick LeBeau would do cartwheels if this happened. Gilbert is an electrifying athlete in the secondary and the return game.
Dallas Cowboys-Anthony Barr. OLB, UCLA. The loss of Demarcus Ware will hurt less with this draft pick. Barr is raw, but his ceiling is as high as it gets for a pass-rusher.
Baltimore Ravens-Calvin Pryor. S, Louisville. The run on defensive prospects rolls on with the Ravens investing in a wingman for last year's first round draft pick Matt Elam.
New York Jets-Eric Ebron. TE, North Carolina. Geno Smith or Michael Vick will need a safety valve on offense and Ebron has play-making potential.
Miami Dolphins-Zack Martin. OT, Notre Dame. Miami needs an OL of Martin's caliber and versatility. He can hold the fort at any of the positions they need on the OL.
Arizona Cardinals-Dee Ford. OLB, Auburn. The talented pass-rusher certainly made an impression at the Senior Bowl. The Cardinals need a young infusion when it comes to the pass-rush and Ford will make an immediate impact.
Green Bay Packers-Ryan Shazier. LB, Ohio State. This guy can be a movable chess-piece in Dom Capers defense either at ILB or OLB. Shazier is a tenacious prospect.
Philadelphia Eagles-Marquise Lee. WR, USC. Though the Eagles can wait to fill the hole left by DeSean Jackson, Lee has a similar ability to stretch the field and make Nick Foles and company very happy.
Kansas City Chiefs-Odell Beckham Jr. WR, LSU. The Kansas City Chiefs need a compliment to Dwayne Bowe, Beckham is a talented route-runner with great hands and can make magic happen with the football in his hands.
Cincinnati Bengals-Bradley Roby. CB, Ohio State. CB is a concern in Cincinnati and the Bengals have a decision between Bradley Roby or Kyle Fuller, so they decide to invest in the in-state product.
San Diego Chargers-Kyle Fuller. CB, Virginia Tech. A rising CB prospect who has the size, speed and skill to compete with the receivers in the AFC-W.
Cleveland Browns (via trade w/IND)-Derek Carr. QB, Fresno State. Even though the rest of the AFC-N invested in their secondaries, the Browns have two high-level talents at WR in Josh Gordon and Sammy Watkins and they need a QB, especially a QB they seem to be interested in.
New Orleans Saints-Jason Verrett. CB, TCU. Verrett may be undersized but pound for pound he is a football player who plays bigger than his size suggests.
Carolina Panthers-Kelvin Benjamin. WR, Florida State. Cam Newton will have a new best friend who is 6'5", 240 lbs.
New England Patriots-Louis Nix. DT, Notre Dame. Whether Nix is anything like Vince Wilfork, he'll have a chance to learn from him and maybe one day succeed him in the middle of the Patriots defense.
San Francisco 49ers-Brandon Cooks. WR, Oregon State. Jim Harbaugh cannot afford to let him fall any further. Someone with his skillset in the slot or outside would really make Colin Kapernick's day.
Denver Broncos-Kony Ealy. DE, Missouri. The Broncos add a solid pass-rusher to an already formidable defense boosted by FA.
Seattle Seahawks-Timmy Jernigan. DT, Florida State. The Super Bowl Champs bolster their front seven with a powerful, penetrating DL with tremendous upside.
Critique as you please.
