Can you find any situation in the past 10 years where there is evidence that a player directly influenced a teams signing of a player? If you're not joking...D-Jax said he was very influenced by RG3 calling him as soon as was released, and Deangelo Hall also a big influence, and how they made him feel at home. You think I make this up? He said so. What about Brett Favre? He had Jared Allen, Longwell (?), and argh, tip of my tongue, no longer there, o-line i think, send their team jet for him. Desean said that he was influenced by RG3 calling him up, not that RG3 told the Redskins to sign Desean. That is a completely different situation. How did RG3 influence the Redskins to sign him? He didnt. Why do you always assume I am joking when I disagree with you? What does Brett Favre have to do with Jared Allen or Ryan Longwell? The Vikings needed a QB, it was pretty clear Favre had interest in going to the Vikings before he was traded to the Jets. It just took a season with the Jets for Favre to get a real shot at free agency after he unretired. After that it was pretty clear that Favre was heading to the Vikings. Longwell and Allen had no influence on getting the Vikings to sign Favre.

A little miscommunication, on both our parts it seems.... You don't know that. And beyond ludicrous. When was the last time you saw that, like more than 1 player come out and beg, and could confirm that the team was not interested? Can you find any situation in the past 10 years where there is evidence that a player directly influenced a teams signing of a player? Okay, I think you meant players on a team do not influence the front office to want to sign a player. I'd fully agree. I (mis)understood you to mean that players on that team have no influence on the team's ultimate success in signing a player that they are of course already going after. Maybe it's just me, but it seems a phenomenon that's been trending. IDK if the front offices actually suggest players do it, or encourage it, or simply don't mind it. They take to all kinds of media from Twitter to NFL Network, to the good old-fashioned phone. If you're not joking...D-Jax said he was very influenced by RG3 calling him as soon as was released, and Deangelo Hall also a big influence, and how they made him feel at home. Refresh on Favre...His first year with the Vikings, the sent Brad Childress and GM (?) down there on the company jet to seal the deal and got him on the plane with little fanfare. He/they had a great year, and got them to the playoffs, losing the NFL Championship @ Saints. He was waffling on retirement all spring, and much of the summer. Don't you remember 'Favre Watch'? He'd had a couple clashes with Childress, and the HC was unsuccessful at Hattiesburg in July. So this time he put 3 of Favre's best buddies on the plane (Allen, Henderson and Longwell (was kicker at GB while Favre was there)) for a surprise attack/visit mid Aug. Series of events... usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/vikings/2010-brett-favre-watch.htm I recall they didn't even broach the topic of football for hours. But they got him on that plane, and he was practicing the next day. BTW, I didn't suggest you were joking cuz you disagreed with me. Again, a misunderstanding. Thought you were unaware that D-Jax said the players influenced his decision to join the Redskins.

The Favre thing is he was already under contract with the Vikings. If players went after him to keep him from retiring, that's hardly the same.

DeSean Jackson cursed out head coach Chip Kelly several times with Eagles, report says By Eliot Shorr-Parks/NJ.com Follow on Twitter on April 04, 2014 at 3:21 PM, updated April 04, 2014 at 4:21 PM When DeSean Jackson was released by the Eagles last week, a team source told NJ.com that one of thereasons for his dismissal was his soured relationship with Chip Kelly. A new report details just how soured. According to Joseph Santoliquito of CBS Sports, Jackson was "blatantly insubordinate" to Kelly and even cursed out the head coach "several times in front of the team." "(Jackson) pushed the NFL rookie coach the way 'a child would test boundaries,'" the report said, "and [he] was more concerned with his rap label than he was about winning football games." This comes a week after an NJ.com report detailed Jackson's off-the-field problems, some of which centered around Jackson's rap label, Jaccpot Records. Santoliquito goes into specific details about the relationship between Jackson and his former team, citing unnamed sources whom he describes as "close to and around the team, including current and former players, as well as additional sources within the Eagles." According to the report, Jackson's teammates were not exactly brokenhearted when the wideout was released. "What put him out was his selfishness. He can try and spin it all he wants -- how he’s ‘a team player.’ He’s not," one source said to Santoliquito. "I’ll put it this way, when it came out last Friday that [Jackson] was released, more than a few guys were happy it happened. They said ‘good riddance.’ He had no real connection with anyone." Another source called Jackson a whiner. “You see little kids and how they cry and whine when they don’t get their way, that was D-Jax,” that person told Santoliquito. “I don’t think [Jackson] gave [Kelly] the respect he deserved. Kelly tried to reach [Jackson] plenty of times and [Jackson] tuned him out. Then you look at team functions, when everyone is out together at charity things or social stuff. He was the one missing. It was like he was in ‘D-Jax world’ and we just happened to be there. Aside from a statement issued when they released Jackson, there has been no comment from the Eagles, including Kelly and general manager Howie Roseman. The silence has frustrated fans and media. "That’s (Kelly’s) way,” one source said to Santoliquito. “It pisses me off that (Kelly) comes off looking like the bad guy here. It wasn’t just (Kelly) that wanted him gone. (Kelly) got a lot of feedback from guys that felt we were better off without [Jackson], too. (Kelly) is very much a player’s coach. His office is open to anyone. Now (Jackson) is the Redskins’ problem. We have something good going here and it’s going to get better without (Jackson). He had to go.” Divebitch ...yes it could be media hogwash...but the reporter put his name on it. Saying something.

The Favre thing is he was already under contract with the Vikings. If players went after him to keep him from retiring, that's hardly the same. Yeah, almost said all that, but thought it unnecessary. But if all that's true, and I see no reason he'd make it up, and I could see D-Jax doing that, the more I'm coming to your way of thinking and maybe it's a good thing. May sound crazy, and I might be totally off-base, but I could see a lot of negative things in his whole demeanor in all this (and elsewhere) - the airport, getting into the truck, the pic at the nightclub. Doesn't tell the story, just a gut feeling. And I do believe all the negative stuff you mentioned above that was said about him. That said, I still think the Eagles handled it in a stupid way. And a dishonest way with the gang stuff.
