The Steelers have reportedly brought in FS Louis Delmas, who was cut by the Lions in a Salary Cap move, for a visit. Steelers FA FS Ryan Clark is likely not going to get resigned and the Steelers don't have a replacement for him ready. steelersfan4life56steeldevilWhat do you think of this move by the Steelers?

Good move if they have the money. Is Polomalu going to be playing next year? Do they need two safeties? Are they thinking about HaHa Clinton-Dix?

Interesting. I assumed they would go into next year with ss1 Troy ss2 Thomas fs1 will Allen fs2 draft pick
I guess signing Delmas would either mean they don't want Allen back or they don't wanna use a high pick on a safety.
I have always assumed Thomas is troys replacement by the way.

Interesting. I have always assumed Thomas is troys replacement by the way. That's what I have always assumed. I never believed that they would try him out at FS even if he was more talented than the other guys. I think their plan is to keep him behind Troy to get him to learn that position and let him take over once Troy retires in 2 years or so.

I understand why the Lions cut him. Lots of money into him this year but Delmas will always be one of my more favorite players. Great emotional leader

Eh I don't know, he has a degenerative knee issue. Last season was the first time he played a full season and that's mostly because he only practiced once a week which won't work learning a new system. He also gets his fair share of penalties. If they do sign him it'll likely only be 1-2 years, at most 3. They'll still be looking for a FS but that just means they can use early picks on WRs and CBs instead of picking a FS early in a weak safety class

We should keep this kind of stuff in your offseason thread COC. Otherwise we will have too many threads this summer I think.
The knee issues are a concern. I think colbert and tomlin are just doing their due dilligence. Nothing to look into too deeply at this time.

Either way we should keep Will Allen for vet min if possible. The Steelers love to play 3 safeties and with Delma possible skipping practices it will take him a while to get up to speed and Thomas is still young. Delma would likely be a sub package safety his first year.
