www.tennessean.com/article/20131231/COLUMNIST0202/312310087/David-Climer-Titans-need-New-Year-s-solution-The Tennessean is reporting that Mike Munchak is likely to return as the Head Coach for the Tennessee Titans without a contract extension. This means that he'll be under contract for 2014, but if he wants to stay in Nashville, the Titans will need to make the playoffs, or, at very least have a winning record like 9-7 or 10-6. The news is not yet confirmed by the Titans, but unofficial reports say that CEO and interim president Tommy Smith would have fired Munchak on Monday if he believed a change needed to be made. Munchak, Smith, and the rest of the coaching staff meet today to decide the terms of his contract and changes regarding the other coaches, as well as the contracts of Chris Johnson and David Stewart. I am in the minority of Titans fans who support Munchak, but if the Titans brass decided he was done, I'd be loyal towards that decision. In my own rebuild of the Titans, I had him fired. However, if Tommy Smith thinks we have a better chance to make the playoffs with Munchak than without him, then I'm behind that. The bottom line is that we are probably looking at another year under Mike Munchak, and we will certainly know in 12 months whether or not that was a good call.
