It appears that Jason Witten will be out for an unknown period of time following a hard hit by Rolando McClain which caused the veteran TE to have internal bleeding around his spleen area. While no surgery is set as of yet, the earliest the TE can return is week 1 of the season, however with this type of injury if the healing is going well a surgical fix maybe the only option, causing him to miss more time or in the worst case scenario, he'll have to end his career to avoid further life threatening damage.
Anyone who is a fan of the Cowboys, or has Witten on their fantasy team, or anyone who cares for that fact, should check in daily for updates in the TE's progression. Right now they are aiming for week 1, but anything can happen with this type of injury.

That's unfortunate. I love the fact that McClain is setting up and hitting hard now, but I did not want it at the expense of anyones health or career. I hope for the best for Witten, even if he is a cowboy, he is one of the better players of the last decade.
