Freshman RB Alex Collins became the 1st freshman in SEC history to run for 100+ yards in his 1st 3 games, and the first freshman in the NCAA since Adrian Peterson did it his first 9 games in 2004. Yes, the competition is weak, but Collins is the first freshman EVER in the SEC to do this. And he's splitting carries with Williams. Averaging just under 6 YPC, Collins has run for 131, 172, and 115 yards in his 1st 3 games, totaling up to 418 yards, to go along with 2 TDs. Collins has displayed great breakaway speed and outstanding vision for a freshman RB.
Sophomore RB Jonathan Williams has been even more impressive, statistically. He has also run for 100+ yards in all 3 games, making Williams and Collins the first RB duo in Razorback history to both run for 100+ yards in the 1st 3 games of the season. Averaging a very impressive 7.7 YPC, Williams has totaled 393 yards on the ground through 3 games, along with 3 TDs, on just 51 carries. Though he is more of a "power back" complement to Collins, he's shown he is a threat to break a big TD every time he gets the ball, as he broke a 75 yard TD against Louisiana Lafayette and a 45 yard TD against Southern Miss.
This is nothing new for Razorback fans. We had McFadden, Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis in 1 backfield, making it one of the best backfields in the history of college football. Kiero Small is our Peyton Hillis. He deserves a TON of credit for the running game's success. He's been an outstanding lead blocker for both RBs.
Good luck stopping these guys, SEC.

And before you all start jumping out at me for saying Collins is the next AP, I'm not saying he is. I put that as the title because AP was the last freshman RB to run for 100+ in his first 3 games.

I believe Collins is 2nd in the nation in rushing yards right now behind the Rutgers RB and Jonathan Williams should be top 5. ESPN stats aren't updated yet. I'll check tomorrow.

You just mad I'm just glad we won today. Cot damn that game was hard to watch. I am glad though, our game against UConn next week is in prime time. No better way to show the nation that this game was a fluke.

How's Brandon Allen for next week? Not sure. Just a bruised shoulder. Should be good to go...Did you pick Arkansas in the survivor pool against Southern Miss? Btw, how did you even almost lost to Akron?

Btw, how did you even almost lost to Akron? Hopefully it was just a sports hangover. Coming off ND we were flat. Maybe we got a little cocky. I'm glad though, Hoke and Lewan were both pissed off after the game. Glad the team got their wake up call sooner rather than later.
