The fact that this is considered Breaking News on NFL.com is a sign that we are officially in the middle of the slowest news feed of the season for football.

The fact that this is considered Breaking News on NFL.com is a sign that we are officially in the middle of the slowest news feed of the season for football. Even if it's Nix, it's still pretty big news for Bills fans. Also, "breaking news" only means that it's happening right now. The term doesn't actually convey the significance of the content. One could say "Breaking news: I stubbed my toe" (no pun intended). If a story is happening now, and it's the most important thing going on at the time, I'd say it deserves that red banner.

Correct me if I am wrong, but this one is really just a title change. Nix hasnt had gm responsibility the past 2 seasons, its more of an official title change than an actual personal change. But I could be mixing this up with something else, so nateball please correct me if I am wrong.

This isn't news for Bills fans. At the beginning of this year, when Ralph ceded total control of the team to Russ Brandon(glorified career yes man), the plan was for Buddy Nix to lead this year's draft, and then step back and Doug Whaley, whom the Bills had been grooming as Nix's successor for the past two years to take over as GM. While this might be news for everyone around the NFL, again, this isn't news for Bills fans. There's been a lot of reports in the last two years that this was the plan all along. Nix isn't leaving the Bills, he's just stepping back and taking a lesser role. Whaley is young, but he's smart, and hopefully he'll work out.
If you want to step back and look at the big picture, Bills fans have finally gotten their wish - the Fitzpatrick/Gailey/Nix regime is now OFFICIALLY over. Man, I won't miss Fitzpatrick or Gailey. I've never seen such a softcore coach before. The guy looked like your kind and loving grandfather standing there on the sideline without a clue what the fuck was going on around him...case in point - he had to call a timeout in a game last year because it was fourth down, and the Bills were on the opponent's 31 yard line, and he didn't know if it was the 31 or the 32 yard line. So he called a timeout to ask for a measurement...and punted...from the 32 yard line. And Fitzpatrick was a fraud. I blame that just as much on the Bills as I do on Shitzpatrick. The only teams he ever looked good against had really bad defenses. In his time with Buffalo, he never once played even remotely good, or even remotely average against a good defense, yet the Bills thought they'd found their savior. Good riddance. DBs in the AFC South got real happy when they found out Fitzcrapstick signed with the Titans. They're all going to have career years in terms of interceptions and pic 6's.
