A) an Eagle on a Giant B) Giants signing old DTs two years in a row C) I think he's better than Shaun Rogers.

A) an Eagle on a Giant B) Giants signing old DTs two years in a row C) I think he's better than Shaun Rogers. A) It happens. I am more concerned with the quality of the player, not where he is coming from B) The Giants rotate their guys a lot. If they can get productive short term answers, go for it C) They are different players. Jenkins is a pass rusher, Rogers is a run stuffer. Both are great though

Lets just hope Jenkins turns out to be as valuable as Steve Smith was to the Eagles.

twitter.com/MikeGarafolo Victor Cruz's new agent will be Tom Condon of CAA, who has done deals with the Giants for Eli Manning and Mathias Kiwanuka in recent years.

Not sure exposing Cruz to the market is that great of an idea

As of now, this is what the Giants have done in FA:
LOST:
S Kenny Philips === A top 5 safety when healthy, IMHO. However, the problem was that he was always injured, and the Giants showed they have great players at safety behind him, such as Will Hill and Stevie Brown TE Martellus Bennett === Took this year with the Giants to re-up his stock, and it showed. He was a great target for Eli, but the Giants have shown they can plug in almost any TE and be productive.
RELEASED:
RB Ahmad Bradshaw === Was making too much money to be a backup (4+ million). No word of ANY visits with Bradshaw with anyone else. COULD be back at a low salary if he want to come back (which he previously expressed). DT Chris Canty === Was making way too much money (7+ million), and has caught on with BAL on a 3 year, 8 million dollar deal. Was good for the Giants, but Joseph is looking to take the reigns as the stronghold of the inside of the Giants D. LB Michael Boley === Was making too much money (5 million), and was ineffective towards the end of the year. MIGHT be back if no market develops, and he can be solid depth.
TENDERED:
WR Victor Cruz, 1st round level === There were initial rumblings of a couple of teams going after Cruz for the 1st, which included STL, MIN, SF, and NE. SF got Boldin. MIN got Jennings. STL is reportedly not interested. And NE WAS going after him until Cruz changed agents. All signs point to him playing with the Giants in 2013. The question is, will it be under the tag, or under a long term deal (the market has been set for 6mil a year for top slot receivers). S Stevie Brown, 2nd round level === The Giants should be fine here in terms of no one matching the offer sheet. He is in line to start in place of Kenny Philips it seems. RB Andre Brown, 2nd round level === I doubt ANYONE even attempts to match the offer sheet. Andre Brown will provide a nice goal line punch to David Wilson.
RESIGNED:
OT Will Beatty === Our top FA priority was resigned to a nice deal. 5 years, 38mil, which is only 3 mil more total than Goster Cherilus signed with IND. Eli will have a top tackle protecting his blindside for many years to come. LB Keith Rivers === Most likely on the cheap. Rivers showcases great talent when healthy. Can be a amazing depth OR maybe even take a starting spot in the LB corps. DT Shaun Rogers === He was one of my favorite FA signings last year, but a blood clot kept him from playing. He is back with the team again, and I think he will be the run stuffer the Giants NEED. Great signing. TE Bear Pascoe === Great blocker, average pass catcher. Signed for less than 800.000. See nothing wrong with this. RB Ryan Torain === The Giants liked what they saw from Torain, and the deal is most likely for the veteran minimum. A nice 3rd RB as well as a change of pace back.
SIGNED:
DT Cullen Jenkins === LOVE IT. His role in PHI was not as good as it could be, which is why his numbers were not as great. With having JPP, Tuck, and Joseph, Jenkins can get to the QB easily and is providing a great pass rush presence to a team that needs it. K David Buehler === Insurance for Tynes at the time, and now with Josh Brown under contract, I expect Buehler to get released. He will get a shot in camp, though. S Ryan Mundy === Good signing. Mundy is not a great S, but a very solid one, and hits hard, just like KP did. Great depth here. LB Dan Connor === Underrated signing, IMO. Connor was misused in DAL, and now coming in to the role in which he strived in a couple of years ago, I see him doing great. CB Aaron Ross === Underrated signing. Many jumped down Ross' throat in 2011 due to bad play. He was actually very solid, and left for a better deal in JAC. He underperformed in JAC, and now is back to a place where he is comfortable and has more talent. As a 3rd or 4th CB, AMAZING. WR Louis Murphy === Underrated. Never had a great QB throwing him the ball. Has great speed, and good hands. Eli will make him look better than what he is, most likely. Will fill the void of Hixon, who is most likely heading to DET. K Josh Brown === LOVE him. Tynes wanted a lot of money, most likely, and Tynes missed a lot of short FGs last year. Brown is a safe best from short, and can kick 50+, something Tynes could NOT do.
INTERESTED IN:
TE Brandon Meyers === I would LOVE this to happen if we get him under contract. He showed to be an amazing option for Carson Palmer last year. And if he comes here, he will have a better QB and a better supporting cast, leaving more room for him to shine. LB Karlos Dansby === PLEASE! Dansby is the type of LB we need. Some Giants fans are comparing him to the move of Antonio Pierce years ago. Dansby is still a very solid LB, and can fill one of the few holes on the defense.
