OK, I have read several articles, and a few comments on here and I am still very confused. Someone please explain the gist of this whole story. How in the hell can anyone say he was "duped". How do you NOT know your girlfriend is real. I am lost. What am I missing. It's bewildering, whether or not you believe the relationship 'inception' date of 2009 or is even 10/11. You really have to read it. I know it's confusing, and I read some parts at least twice. But as I said earlier, so confusing and/or unanswered questions, I wouldn't begin to try to explain it to anyone.

Classy, basically it was an online relationship only, and further more, it was mainly twitter based. I tried that once when I was a teen, and it really didn't do anything for me. I know a few people who made it work and met up with the person, but I know others who met the person and they weren't who they said they were, one was actually a middle aged man who was hitting on my 17 year old friend at the time. Man... LOL why does everything mankind invents always end up being used for sex.
Edit:
While I'm on this wave length... if it was online only, then how the hell was he supposedly calling her while she was in the hospital? This would suggest he had made contact before, and would have had to of known someone that gave him the hospital's number.
I hope for his sake he is hiding being gay or too low of self confidence or shy or something, cause otherwise this dude is the dumbest f****** I've ever heard of.

Shaggz, I thought of that hospital phone, but gave it the benefit of the doubt that it was the usual cell phone. Still it is ridiculous. Let's even pretend they are on the same plan - doubtful. After 6 AM, OOOUCH.

I really don't get why everyone is so confused about this. Its pretty easy to lie about who you are on the internet! So T'eo likely had an online relationship for what ever reason, and it turned out that she was faking who she was. And then either she/he/whoever it was either decided to kill off the person because they felt guilty or because they wanted to fuck with T'eo.. People lie about who they are in real life. Its 100times easier on the internet because you aren't actually involved in a persons life. This is basically the same shit as trolls they pretend to be somebody just to toy with people on the internet. The only surprising thing is why T'eo who is a good looking and likely extremely popular person needed/wanted an online girlfriend..

There is a lot fishy here. T'eo made a huge mistake. Was he all that good anyway? Is he an NFL linebacker? If he is the best Linebacker out there he will be drafted. I think he made a big mistake. But if he is the next Dick Butkus or something, he will be okay. I don't think he is though from what I read.

Jindred and shaggz...I think you may be confused about why many of us confused. lol According to several sources (we don't know if it came from Manti himself) it was not just online. Manti's father told the South Bend (IN) Tribune that the girl had made a few trips to Hawaii from 2010 thru 2011. There was an account of how they met after a game in 2009, but we don't know where that info came from. Then there's all the crazy hospital stuff. See my post on page 5. Then the Deadspin reporter somehow 'deduces' that they only met online Oct 2011.
So the timelines of conflicting facts or accounts from various sources where there is no citing of the original source is what is confusing. At least 1 person is lying but we don't know who or why.

I know that, MO and I, think he was overrated when he was a Heisman finalist and a projected top five pick. I was never on the Te'o hype-train, I thought he was somewhat overrated and he had the hype of playing for the undefeated Notre Dame team. If it wasn't for this junk, I'd of said he should be a bottom of the 1st / top of the 2nd player. Now I'd wait till the 2nd round if it's fake, and wait longer if it's true.
