For anyone who doesn't know, T.J. Houshmanzadeh and Lendale White both stomped on and wiped their feet with the terrible towel in '05 and '08 respectively. The Steelers went on to win the Super Bowl in both years. T.J. and White are both out of the NFL now after their careers went downhill after those incidents.

The difference this year is that, even if the steelers somehow manage to get to the super bowl, whichever nfc team gets there will be very capable of beating them(unlike the seahawks and cardinals). and i don't think rice has anything to worry about. unlike housh and white, rice is actually good.

Housh was good while he was in Cincy. White was also the best Goal Line RB in the NFL (15 TDs in 2008 behind CJ2K) until he got tired of sitting behind CJ2K as part of Smash and Dash. Their careers went pretty much downhill not long after they disrespected the towel. Housh had 2 good years after '05 and jest fell off the radar after leaving Cincy. White wasn't so lucky. He only made it through one full NFL season after that.

Yeah, he might be good, but things happen. Let's hope not.
Not as bad as Madden curse though:
2000--Barry Sanders, then retires before training camp 2002--Daunte Culpepper--playoffs to most fumbles in a season, knee injuries 2003--Marshal Faulk--not another 1000 rush season, knee injury 2004--Michael Vick--broken fibula, dog scandal, multiple injuries 2006--D. McNabb--torn MCL/meniscus, sports hernia, now retired 2007--LT--declined to be on cover, no problems 2008--V Young--injuries, release 2008--Luis Castillo--Spanish version--broken tibia 2009--Farve right after retirement, and we all know what happened from that point on. 2010--Polamalu--MCL, other injuries 2011--Drew Brees---scandal 2012--Peyton Hillis--hamstring, strep throat, contract, release 2013-C. Johnson--no where near as productive
Not generally superstitious, but I wouldn't be on the cover.

Megatron no where as productive? puhleeze... on pace for 104 receptions, 1787 yards and 5 TDs. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to say his TDs will regress after last year. Both the receptions and yards would be career highs, also Fitz had a career year after being on the cover as well

I didn't list Fitz because he hasn't had problems---unless you count being with Arizona as a problem LOL. And Calvin, yes, I know--ok miss spoke a little. he hasn't had any SERIOUS problems. And hopefully he won't.
I just thought it was interesting trivia.

You also listed some players with problems a couple of years after being on the cover... like Vick's dog scandal, it wasn't the Madden Cover that made him do it, was a personal decision, or the Bounty Scandal, wasn't Brees fault.
Injuries happen to everyone... to say the Madden Cover had any affect on that is pretty far-fetched. Almost impossible to find anyone in the NFL without an injury history and even harder to find a star without a major injury somewhere just because of the longetivity of their careers. Also most get chosen because of some sort of career year the year before. So most likely they regress than have a repeat career year.

And in '07 with Shaun Alexander. He only played in 10 games that year and 4 games the next year with Washington. He hasn't been in the NFL since.
