Hey guys, I'm playing with an athletic / scrambling quarterback currently and I seem to be unable to slide. I've checked the manual and used google and it turns out I should be able to slide if I press (tap) the dive button (S for PC) as my quarterback is scrambling. However, he only winds up diving regardless of what I do. It doesn't seem to matter if I tap S or press and hold it, he'll always dive. Does ayone know how to slide in good, old, Madden 06 for the PC? Thanks in advance.

Don't have the game myself, but we can probably guess at a few reasons why he isn't diving.
How about trying some different things in practice mode.
Like for example.
Press the Dive button with and without sprinting. (Seeing if sprinting matters at all.)
Press the Dive button at different lengths down the field (2-5-10 yards). (Distance might matter)
Double tap, quick press, and hold the dive button. (You've probably already tried this but it's worth a shot.)
Press the Dive button when defenders are near or far away. (Could be he won't slide when defenders are near or far)
Try it with players who have different jump/dive ratings. (Athletic diving plays might be expected from an athletic QB, they might disable sliding for the sake of Plays of the Week type dives.)

Thanks for the input guys, it's much appreciated. I've tried out your suggestions, but so far, no dice. I was playing the Eagles last night and saw McNabb (pc controlled) slide against my team, so I know it ought to be possible. However, I've been unable to slide as it doesn't seem to be related to ratings, distance, opponent's proximity or the way I press/tap/double tap/hold the S key. Ah well, I can try and get out of bounds and diving, but it's too bad if my QB gets hurt for the remainder of the game or fumbles the ball. It's not impossible to play with this, though.
