FINAL SCORE

wow, i have never been more disgusted as a bengals fan in my entire life. no im not joking. this has to be one of the worst losses ive EVER seen. as jim mora would say, "WE SUCKED". thats what it felt like this game. i dont care if its one game here, its time to hit the panic button. people though i was crazy to say 6-10, at this rate i might be lucky to even hit that
5 PLAYERS WHO GET MY GAMEBALL
5.FS Reggie Nelson. 8 tackles. people blame him alot last night because people think you get more tackles because you cant cover the guy. he played very well and was the best of the worst of this crappy secondary. hes gonna get better this year
4.WR A.J Green. 5 catches for 70 yrds. he could of had alot more catches if andy dalton didnt overthrow him so many times. i swear dalton threw to him a bunch, but he missed him so many times. green played good inspite of dalton's crappy play
3.DT Geno Atkins. 2 tackles and 2 sacks. still think im crazy for saying geno atkins is the best 4-3 DT in the game? just look at him. hes already got 2 sacks on the year, he was the biggest bright spot in this bad defense last night. hes gonna have another monster year and people will learn that hes a top 10 DL player
2.WR Andrew Hawkins. 8 catches for 86 yrds. the bengals needed someone to emerge at the #2 WR and they might have there man here. and he didnt catch alot of deep balls either, most of his yards were AFTER the catch which is very impressive. hes a no name right now to most teams, but hes gonna be something special i think
1.RB Benjarvus Green-Ellis. 18 attempts for 91 yrds and a TD. who would of though that a RB would get the gameball on the bengals, especially when your playing against the ravens whom are a tough team to play against the run. i was really down on this guy all preseason, and he shut me up. he had 62 yrds on 12 attempts in the 1st half which is 5.1 on average. only rushed it 6 times in the 2nd half but got 29 yrds on 4.6 average. overall he had 5 yards per carry. and his longest run of the game was a 14 yard run too. well played law firm, your gonna be very good this year
WHAT I WASNT HAPPY ABOUT
5.Not being able to stop ray rice. they didnt let him run for over 100 yards which is good, but he had 93 all purpose yards this game and 2 rush TD's. not being able to stop him in the redzone was bad. if they could of stopped him more, they could of maybe had a chance this game
4.Stupid turnovers. the bengals were down 27-13 with the 3rd qrt almost over. then dalton threw a pick 6 to make the game 34-13. if he didnt throw that, the team could of still had a chance. but that pretty much ended the dream this game
3.Not good enough on 3rd downs. the bengals were 4 for 15 all game on 3rd downs. your not gonna do good in this league if you cant convert more on 3rd downs. not getting TD's instead of field goals in the redzone cost the team alot, and it was mostly thanks to andy dalton who couldnt get the job done when he had help finally on the running game
2.Almost no pressure on flacco. the bengals only had 3 sacks all game, but one of them was in garbage time. geno atkins was the only one getting pressure. robert geathers and domata peko didnt do much. michael johnson dominated michael oher but didnt have a sack because nobody was quick enough to get to flacco
1.Leaving the ravens WR's and TE's open all day. this right here is the reason we lost the game. the ravens were gonna do well in the no huddle offense this year which flacco did well with and the team wasnt prepared enough for it and it cost the team. the secondary was a complete failure this game. flacco was 21-29 for 299 yrds and 2 tds. what a joke.
5 PLAYERS THAT WERE TERRIBLE
5.QB Andy Dalton. anddddddddddd the sophomore slump begans as of right NOW. ive been sticking up for this guy alot last year, but that was last year. this year hes proving now that hes mediorce at best. the good news that his arm strength isnt a problem. the bad news is hes proved he has no accuracy when it comes to throwing it deep. he missed a.j green so many times this game it was frustrating to watch. hes played good against the crappy teams, but when he had to play good defense teams like the steelers, ravens, texans, and niners, he sucks. think hes gonna be a solid QB though, but maybe not this year
4.WR Brandon Tate. for a guy that won the #2 WR job this year, he didnt so well. he had an impressive 1 catch for 3 yards all game. plus he made some stupid plays on the special teams too when trying to return it. with andrew hawkins emerging this game, his job might be gone soon as a starter and roster spot. dont know if he will lose his job after one week 1 though
3.ILB Rey Maualuga. i cannot stand this guy as usual. hes not a leader on this team. hes overated, he cant tackle, he cant get interceptions, he cant do pass coverage, he cant stay out of trouble. the only thing hes proved so far in cincinnati is that hes is a bust. its too bad vontaze burfict isnt ready yet, but i bet burfict will push for maualuga's job at some point, because maualuga obviously doesnt give a damn about his job
2.CB Leon Hall. i though with him coming back he would be a factor early. i was wrong. he was struggling last year and did this game once again. and hes not even the #1 CB yet still. i know hes coming off of injury, so maybe i should cut him some slack. but for all of the CB's to struggle this game, it was him which is not a good sign
1.SS Taylor Mays. this guy should not be even playing football until he actually learns how to play. he was easily the worst player last night. got a stupid late hit because he doesnt realise yet still that you cant tackle that hard on a defenseless reciever. he was so bad, he got benched in favor of jeromy miles in the middle of the game. i though maybe mays would do something this year, but i guess i was wrong. former packers S nick collins is still looking for a team, just saying
FINAL GRADES
Offense: C . they played very hard in the 1st half but fell asleep in the 2nd half. dalton didnt do a good job this game. law firm ran the ball nicely. green and hawkins could catch the ball, while guys like tate and gresham didnt. the OL was very good this game IMO. for guys like jeff faine and clint boling whom had to come in for injuries this year, they did good this game
Defense: F . i was so disappointed in this defense. they didnt show up. pass rush was not good despite geno atkins. LB's couldnt stop the run. the secondary was playing like a practice squad team at the time too. mike zimmer will not be pleased with this game, so he better find a way to turn it around
Special Teams: C . kicking was excellent like always, and punting was solid. guys like brandon tate on returns though were awful.
Coaching: F . as much as i hate marvin lewis, he was the best of the worst here for good reason. he went for it on 4th down TWICE and they were successful both times. i applaud him for that. jay gruden and mike zimmer were bad though, which was a shock to me. gruden didnt get jermaine gresham involved more and when law firm was running so well, he should of gave him more carries this game. zimmer's defense plan was not done well enough and i was not pleased with it.
FINAL GRADE OVERALL: F
when you lose by 31 points on primetime, and give up 44 points, you dont deserve anything BUT an F, period. i dont care if it was close in the 3rd qrt, they fell apart and got there asses kicked. this is the same thing that happened to the texans in the playoffs, and the bengals are picking up right where they left off now. this team is not gonna get its credit until they can hang with the big boys.
FINAL WORDS
it may only be one game, but im not happy with it. this team is not gonna make the playoffs. they cant, they wont. they got too many injuries, they are making stupid plays, and they are the bengals when it all said and done
the browns game next week is a trap game now. even though brandon weeden played terrible, dont forget they almost beat the eagles as well. the battle of ohio games have always been close games, and i kind of dont think its gonna change this week. if they lose the browns next week, you can kiss the bengals season goodbye. good thing the cincinnati reds are in 1st place at least (rant over, see you guys next time)
