It's that time of year again. Almost everyone's team is out of the playoffs, and in three weeks, everyone will be. If there's enough interest, that should be plenty of time to set up the community offseason.
For everyone who doesn't know what this is or has joined within the last 2 years, site co-founder plax ran a forum game over the summer of 2014. It stemmed from our long running tradition (six years running at least by memory), of each owner picking his favorite team, a random team, or even multiple teams and GM'ing a draft over the course of the offseason. The game will start TBD, but we should shoot for about a week after the superbowl. It only varies based on how long registration takes. The order of games goes: roster cuts, waivers, free agents, draft. The game will certainly be finished before April, but the vast majority happens in February. March is usually just the draft, which just involves logging in once every day or two when you're OTC to pick.
The game involves trading players, drafting, waivers and even bidding for free agents with other managers who are users on the site. Most of the grunt work was done by Plax, including lots of math, spreadsheet design and copy/pasting from Spotrac and OTC. I helped out a bit and learned what he did to organize, but if we run the game, I would appreciate at least one co-administrator for it, since there is a lot to be done and I am in school and working.
Last year, we nearly had enough registered owners to set it up, but fell just short. If everyone or even half of active users join and some take two teams, we'll have enough GMs. I figured I would use this informal poll to determine whether or not it's worth the time to start registering people.
Please vote, but if you don't want to commit, that's fine too. It won't be too late to just volunteer at the last minute if we get to registration.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'll post a full rule explanation if we get enough owners.
