Hey guys,
Jim Harbaugh's coached his last game as a 49er a few weeks ago, the niners went a mediocre 8-8 for the season and we might be loosing a number of good players in the offseason. I don't see the future of my favorite team being all that sunny and bright... what are your thoughts exactly?

My thoughts are the Niners should have done everything in their power to keep the guy who turned the franchise around and took them to 3 NFC champ games in what, 4 years? I honestly hope the Niners flop, so they can shake their heads at themselves for letting a top 3 NFL coach get away.

The 49ers still have a ton of talent on the defensive side of the ball, so I still see their defense being great for at least a few more seasons. (They should trade one of their 3 awesome ILBs to the Dolphins, we will give you Mike Wallace ) Your offense has talent too but its getting older, and as much as I liked Kaep his first could of seasons I am starting to sour on him pretty fast, I don't think he is the answer, 9ers need to look elsewhere. I like Harbaugh I think he is a great coach, but if he wasn't gelling with the team he had to go. But with him goes tremendous coaching knowledge and skill, it won't be easy to replace. We will see who they get. Right now some concerns for the 9ers, will Bowman and Willis ever get healthy again? Is Frank Gore done? They have 2 old WRs in Boldin Lloyd, and two underpreforming in Johnson and Crabtree, they need consistency there. USE VERNON DAVIS DAMNIT! Your CBs could also use some upgrading. I think the 9ers can stay competitive if they bring in the right coach.

I don't see the future of my favorite team being all that sunny and bright... what are your thoughts exactly? Depends on who you hire. Harbaugh assembled phenomenal assistant coaches at SF, so the best move would be to hire from within IMO. That's what Stanford did when Harbaugh left, and then David Shaw (who was Harbaugh's OC at Stanford) ripped off three straight 11 win seasons. I'd promote DC Vic Fangio or DL coach Jim Tomsula to HC.

Yeah, agreed. Perhaps we already have some future-headcoach candidates in the house; that'd be a good start. I'm afraid there'll be a considerable amount of rebuilding, though. The 49ers have some pretty good linebackers and defensive linemen in their team, but I think we need some help in the secondary. And that offense doesn't look good and will get worse if we lose Frank Gore. And although I liked Kaepernick in his first season, I'm afraid opposing teams have figured him out and he doesn't seem to be making much progress as a passer. I.o.w. I'm not sure if he's the long-time answer at QB.
Lol, I'm so good at thinking negatively, but I can't help being somewhat worried about the upcoming season.

As Jindred said, your defense will be fine for many years to come. They do need some help at CB, but at the very least that weakness can be somewhat masked by the great front 7 SF has. Gore is a phenomenal player, but then again, you also have Carlos Hyde who looked great as a rookie imo. I think he's very similar to Gore in a lot of ways. I agree about Kaepernick though, it's time for him to either show progress or get out of SF. I also think you need better WRs. Boldin is good, but I personally think Crabtree is kind of overrated, and SF needs a 3rd WR to emerge. They also need to use Vernon Davis more in the passing game. The OL is still great, it was just decimated by injuries last year.
