Really? Chuck Forman and Bill Brown over AP.. Really?
Lets look purely at stats for a moment and forget that AP has been the single best RB the league has seen in the last decade.
Chuck Foreman - Played 7 seasons with Minnesota, had 3 1000 yard seasons and finished his career with 5950 yards, 53 TDs, a 3.8 YPC and a dismal 54 YPG.. He also had 3156 rec yards and 23 rec Tds, he was a good back but this guy wasn't a top RB in the league when he played..
Bill Brown - played 13 seasons with the Vikings never ran for 1000 yards.. He had 5838 yards and 52 TDs, he averaged 3.5 YPC and a wopping 30 YPC.. 3138 yards receiving and 23 Tds.. He looks like he was more of a full back than a RB..
Now.. Adrian Peterson - Has played 7 seasons with them, this would have been 8 if not for his legal troubles. In those 8 seasons he has 6 seasons all over 1200 yards, 1 of which being over 2000 yards where he was also the league MVP. The only season he didn't break 1000 yards was a season in which he tore his ACL in the 12 game and was only 30 yards from going over that mark again. He has yet to have a season with under 10 TDs.. He already has 10190 rushing yards and 86 TDs, he averages 5YPC and 98 YPG, he also has 1700 rec yards and 5 rec TDs.. Now it is true that he may not be a great receiver, but the fact that he almost has better stats rushing than those two backs combined easily makes him the greatest RB in the Vikings history and its not even a question.
Also John Randle isn't the best DT in their history? Cmon man.. John Randall is a top 5 DT all time... He has more sacks that any other DT in the history of the league.. No friggin way Kevin Williams would EVER start over him, Kevin Williams had a few good years playing beside Pat Williams then faded into anonymity when he got caught using PEDs.

No friggin way Kevin Williams would EVER start over him, Kevin Williams had a few good years playing beside Pat Williams then faded into anonymity when he got caught using PEDs. - Chuck Foreman actually WAS seen as one of the best in the league when he played, because he was so versatile, like Roger Craig or Thurman Thomas. Adrian Peterson would be the starter, I agree, but Foreman should certainly be considered for the #2 there, though I might consider Robert Smith as my #2. - Speaking of RBs, Dave Osborn should be on there also. - Leo Lewis, WR/KR could also be considered. 5th franchise history in games played. Not a great player, but a pretty good returner. - Love the Darrin Nelson selection here. Fun fact - He was drafted BEFORE both Gerald Riggs and Marcus Allen in the 1982 draft. Really good player at Stanford and worthy of being drafted early...maybe after those others though. Especially Marcus. - John Randle wasn't the best DT in their history, but he would be the second starter. The best DT in Vikings history is Alan Page. Page was only ONE of two defensive players to win the league MVP award, in 1971 (the other being Lawrence Taylor in 1986). I don't know if I'd say Randle is top 5 DTs all time either, though I really liked him as a player. Mean Joe, Merlin Olsen, Bob Lilly, Alan Page, and maybe Randy White or Buck Buchanan would be the top DTs I would think. Top 10 for Randle, sure. Cortez Kennedy, Warren Sapp, Henry Jordan, Dan Hampton...those would be the others considered I'd say. - Zimmerman would be the starting LT also. HOFer, better player. Alderman had more years with the team, but wasn't quite at the level Zim was. - Tough call, but Keith Milliard could also be on there somewhere at at DT position. So many good DLs on this team. HOFers all over. I can understand the Jim Marshall over Chris Doleman at RE, but Doleman was a great pass rusher and HOFer. Marshall, unbelievably is not in the HOF. Seems to have the Jerry Kramer syndrome.

Seems to have the Jerry Kramer syndrome. Ahh I had never heard of Foreman before so I didn't think he would have been all that big of a deal. Still though to put him over Peterson is just ridiculous in my mind, Peterson is already a top 10 back ever IMO and if his career isn't hampered to much by this season he will be top 5 if not talked about with the guys like Sanders, Peyton and Brown. If Norman was known for versatility he would be better off as a third down/ change of pace back to Peterson anyways. In my eyes Randle is a top 5 DT of all time, the fact that he is top 10 in sacks all time at the DT position with no other DT even close behind in that category buts him in a position many others can't compete with in my eyes. I kinda missed Allen Page on there.. I thought he was behind Kevin and Pat Williams so thats my bad, from what little I have heard of Page it sounds like he is in the argument for best ever so I agree with you there, but Randle is still top 5 in my eyes and should never EVER play behind Kevin Williams.. Second thought why is Pat Williams not on this list? Is it cause he only played 5 years with the vikings? He made 3 pro bowls with them..

Second thought why is Pat Williams not on this list? Is it cause he only played 5 years with the vikings? He made 3 pro bowls with them.. Remember that sacks were not an official NFL statistic until 1982. Unfortunately we lose a lot of records because of that. Without going back through the games themselves, who knows how may sacks guys like Merlin Olsen, Page, Mean Joe, L.C., Deacon, Coy Bacon, etc. would have had. Could be a big difference, but we must also keep in mind that NOT having as many sacks doesn't mean the guy wasn't capable either. The passing game was a bigger part of the offense during Randle's time...more passing plays = more opportunities for a sack. I would take Keith Milliard on the roster here before Pat Williams, but that's just me. When Foreman came along in '73, the Vikings were believed to finally be a team "that had it all", and should win a couple SBs. Went to 3 with him, but always met a badass opponent and could never overcome that.

Can we all agree that the Vikings have one of the best all around teams and one of the scariest defenses in NFL history? I have them 3rd behind only the Steelers and Cowboys.

Got to agree with Canton, I can't put them 3rd on that list.. IMO the 49ers have a better all time team.. I think the Broncos have a better all time team. Possibly the Bears, Raiders and Rams as well..
