Nice post. Although I would take out Domata Peko, and put in Geno Atkins.
I would also include TJ Houshmanzadah instead of Eddie Brown. AJ Green will probably be on this list in a couple of seasons.
Will you be doing one of these for every team?

Will you be doing one of these for every team? Thanks for the reply. I do plan to post a list for every team. I think it may be a bit premature for Atkins. He's only in his 5th season with the Bengals. While Atkins is certainly a better pass rusher. He's only recorded 90 tackles in his career compared to 216 for Peko. Give Adkins another 3+ seasons with the team and he may very well find a place onto this list.
Lets compare Eddie Brown to T.J. Houshmandzadah.
Eddie Brown: 363 receptions for 6134 yards an 16.9 Y/R avg and 41 touchdowns T.J. Houshmandzadah: 507 receptions for 5782 yards an 11.4 avg and 37 touchdowns
So even though Houshmandzadah had 144 more catches Brown still gained 352 more yards. 11.3% of Brown's receptions resulted in a touchdown compared to only 7.3% for Houshmandzadah I think Eddie Brown was clearly the more explosive receiver.

If you believe it's too premature to include Atkins, that's completely understandable. It seems like we are in agreement that he will be on this list if he keeps up his level of play though. Houshmandzadah vs Brown seems like personal preference, in my opinion. Do you want the receiver that is less capable of making the big play, but more consistent and more reliable? Or do you want the less consistent, but very explosive WR? You can make an argument for both, you can't go wrong with either. but I tend to lean towards the side of the less-explosive, but more reliable target. Watching Marques Colston over the years is probably a big reason why I feel that way.

Watching Marques Colston over the years is probably a big reason why I feel that way. I'd rank T.J. Houshmandzadah as the 6th best receiver in Bengals history and there really isn't much separating him from #5 Carl Pickens or #4 Eddie Brown.. I don't recall Brown as ever being labeled as unreliable during his tenure with the team. I think there are two reasons for the difference in catches and the difference in yards per catch. The first one can largely be explained by the evolution of the game from the 80's to the 00's. More passes being thrown equals for receptions. The second can be explained by the fact that Houshmandzadah was a slot receiver who made a lot more catches over the middle for lesser yards. Brown had 7 touchdown catches of over 50 yards, Houshmandzadah had exactly 1. On the other hand Houshmandzadah had 16 touchdown catches of less than 10 yards while Brown only 7 of less than 10 yards. Both were good players though.

bears75Those are both really good points, touché. Houshmanzadah might not have had as many catches if he played in the same era that Brown did. And I should clarify, I didn't mean to call Brown unreliable, I just meant to say that I think Houshmanzadah might be more reliable, based on the fact that he has more catches. That means he's creating separation and getting open more consistently.
