lostabroad2 Not sure if the HBO one is live. So if it's already over don't tell me what happened. Just give me grudge details.

Basically it started out as just a normal domestic match between a good quality aging champion who wasn't particularly liked or respected by the British public and a younger up-and-coming challenger. Froch has a great chin, a big punch, decent skills and a decent work rate. He's always been a bit dismissive of his opponents and he's tended to be a bit lazy when he can get away with it. That said he has fought the best fighters out there and his only 2 defeats had been on points in World title fights. He has since gained revenge over those opponents. Groves wasn't seen as a top contender and Froch was a 90-95% favourite before the 1st fight. In the build-up to that 1st fight Groves treated him in interviews the way Froch normally treats his opponents. Froch is an arrogant so-and-so and couldn't deal with being treated that way. He lost his temper in 1 or 2 of the pre-fight interviews and physically lashed out at Groves. Groves saw that he was getting under Froch's skin so he kept trying to needle Froch...and it worked. Froch totally underestimated and disrespected Groves ability. Froch went looking for a 1st round KO with no thought to defense and Groves floored him in the 1st round. It was only Froch's 2nd ever knockdown. Froch still went looking for a quick stoppage and Groves caught him with more good shots in the early rounds. I had Groves 5 rounds ahead going into the 9th. Froch caught Groves with a good shot which wobbled him. The referee immediately stopped the fight despite Groves appearing to recover without ever going down. Groves claimed he'd been robbed of a World title win whilst Froch claimed he'd been robbed of a decisive KO victory. The boxing authorities demanded a rematch. Groves has continued to needle Froch who still can't deal with it. Groves isn't as big or as strong as Froch. He doesn't have Froch's Ali-like chin or devastating punch. Groves has faster hands and good skills but he doesn't have a dominant trait that would seem to put him up there with the best in the World. His best chance might be to outpoint Froch with hit-and-run tactics. Froch might be a bit over-the-hill as this is his 13th title defense. It's seen as a very even fight with Froch a 57-43 favourite. The crowd will mostly be supporting Groves. Both fighters could reasonably hope to win by stoppage and both could win on points. It's the biggest all-British fight since Lewis vs Bruno and it's the best looking all-British fight since the Benn-Eubank-Watson-Collins wars in 80's/90's. There will be 80,000+ fans at Wembley for this fight. I've now seen the fight but I won't tell you the result. If you haven't seen it but still have access it's worth watching.

The biggest British grudge fights ever were Chris Eubank v Nigel Benn.
