Everyone saw a while back the last time Michael Pineda was accused by Red Sox Manager John Farrell of using pine tar on the palm of his hand. While he was not ejected for that, there is clear evidence that he did have it. However, he wasn't punished for that incident because it wasn't caught by the umpires during the game. However, during last night's game against the Reds, Pineda was caught in the 2nd Inning with pine tar spread on the inside of his neck. He was ejected immediately once the home plate umpire was called upon by John Farrell to examine Pineda and the pine tar was found. This is the second time he has visibly used pine tar in a game, which is an illegal substance by the MLB. Do you think Pineda should be suspended? If so, how many games?

he will probably be suspended for a start.
humorous how Boston did that when two of their pitchers use Pine Tar all of the time (Buchholtz has it in his mother f'ing hair! - how can hair stay wet for 3 hours playing a sport?)

Some people sweat like crazy.. Others are constantly spraying their hair down with water in the dugout to keep cool. Wearing a hat when its hot often = both of those things. I am not saying he doesn't have it in his hair, but having played baseball I can think of times where some of the more sweaty people where drenched the entire game, so you can't just go off of that.

There is a reason The Red Sox manager said nothing in the 1st game where Pineda used it (because Buc. was pitching too).

I don't like shit like this in sports.. doing every little thing you can to get an edge even if it is against the rules.. I agree with you the hypocrisy is ridiculous.. If you are gonna cheat at least be an honorable cheater and let others do it as well lol.

Wish they would have cracked down in this in the World Series last year when the Red Sox were doing it.

They been doing stuff like this for years and years and years in baseball. This stuff is nothing new. Everything you have seen to cheat, except steroids have been around for a 100 years.

He uses water and rosin...which is clear. Pineda should have used something different that wasn't so blatantly noticeable. He embarrassed himself and his team. If he and Girardi didn't think he was in the wrong or 'cheating', they wouldn't have had him remove the pinetar once the telecasters noticed it. Ten games is about right I think...2 or three starts.

By the time to the redsox and Farell heard about the pine tar pineda had already removed it...Farell did have him checked.

Pineda put it on himself inbetween the 1st and 2nd inning because he got rocked for 4 runs in the 1st. And Buchholtz has been accused several times by MANY people - BOS opened up a can of worms because their guys use Pine Tar all of the time. (btw - I have nothing wrong with Pineda being suspended - he was dumb)
