I have some things to say, but I think I will just keep my mouth shut.
And Dive, the first thing that came to my mind was Manti also.

It sounds like he thought this would be leaked out, so he really didnt have a choice but to come out. At least he will be able to control the media, instead of them controlling him.
I have a late second round grade on him. Most people have around the same. It will be interesting to see where he ends up being picked now. It isnt fair to him, but honestly I could see a scenario where he ends up going undrafted. We have come a long ways over the past 10 years or so, still I am not sure how many NFL teams are willing to take a risk on an openly gay player.

Same goes for Johnathan Martin though.

Unfortunately for Sam and the media, his stock was slipping BEFORE this news. As the nfl.com article says 9 of his 10.5 sacks came against Vandy, arkansas state and Florida (who was one of the worst teams in the country this year at times if you didn't watch). Entirely ignoring that he's gay, I think he was a bit overrated coming in. If he does fall for any reason I just hope it's not associated with the announcement, because that will not only be picked up by news networks, it could create a stigma that really does affect future prospects who may come out or stay in the closet.

You took my well thought, classy joke. And turned it into Classless garbage. Shame Plax. Shame.

I'm not sure why everyone's making such a big deal over this. Sam isn't the first. Remember journeyman QB Dick Shiner?

This will hopefully be a good thing for the league. This could be a huge moment for the western world where if people see role models being tolerant of a gay player then the too can be more tolerant. I don't expect more people to believe being gay is ok or to like it, but at least this could prove to be a turning point for tolerance and acceptance of it!

"Sam's announcement did not come as a surprise to most NFL teams. Sam's sexual orientation was considered an open secret in his college town of Columbia, Mo., and the assistant personnel man said he believed "90 percent of teams" were already aware that Sam was gay and had dropped him on their draft boards. He estimated that of the 32 NFL franchises, only two or three didn't know prior to Sunday night's news. He projected that it will impact Sam's draft status "quite a bit."sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20140209/michael-sam-draft-stock/?eref=sihpSo dumb. Imo, if I was a GM or whatever, I'd see Sam coming out as a positive. It takes a tremendous amount of courage and character to speak up like Sam did, and I'd want high character guys like that in my locker room.
