Yeah. I'm 188cms (6'2'') on 240s, but I'm on the upper end of my spectrum. There isn't really a "correct" length, beceause it depends on the type of terrain you like to ski. If Craig is skiing out west on wide bowls then 200 sounds about right. Flat, steep terrain lets you afford extra length basically. Vermont is covered in moguls, ice, rocks, trees etc so my skis are a bit too long for my style but I need them that long for alpine. Weight also factors in. I'm right on healthy BMI at 188/79, but if I weighed an extra 5kgs I would need shorter skis to decrease my speed and make turns easier at high speeds. It basically works like this. 1. Tall = long skis, short = short skis 2. Speed = long skis, mixed terrain = short skis 3. Fat (BMI+) = short skis, skinny (BMI-) = long skis Oops, kept saying 'mm' instead of 'cm'? Yeah, Craig said he was doing moguls, which with 210s is pretty much asking for it. lol Even still, IDK how tall he he is, only seen a pic with no real frame of reference, but I took him to be avg height (5'8" - 5'11"). Most people get the 'shaped skis' for all terrain, and it's usually around 180s for that height if you're a decent skier. Surprised that extra weight would indicate shorter skis, always thought the opposite. But I miss skiing to death. Hasn't worked out for me here. Seattle was great! Crystal, Baker, Snoqualimie local, and then the mecca, Whistler/Blackcomb in BC CA, maybe a 3 - 4 hour drive. I've heard some nasty things about Vermont, crowded, and the conditions are endless, often icy. Also that skiers from there are often excellent for those reasons. I too used to think overweight needed heavier skis. But momentum doesn't help when you're turning, so heavier people need to slow down when they turn, thus, shorter skis.

Vermont: Jay Peak Mad River Glen Stowe Sugarbush Kilington Burke Bolton Valley Middlebury maybe others but I can't think New Hampshire: Mt Washington Canada: Mont Tremblant Kicking Horse Whistler Colorado: Breckenridge Vale Keystone Steamboat
I wish to ski the Alps most of all, but I've never been to Europe and I likely won't have the means to do so until I get rich one day... Or until I stowaway on a freighter!

Jindred - You got some catchin' up to do. hehe Let's see now, might forget some... Austria - stayed in Innsbruck with many resorts very close by www2.skiarlberg.at/arl/west/en/winter/w-skigebiet/66b5a740142a26b407a0267cab0e5859 - Like our body clocks weren't broken enough, we got up at 3 AM to watch the Super Bowl - Anyway, of those, went to: Stuben St. Anton 1 or 2 others maybe Zurs or Lech Also: Kitzbuhel Ischgl - Loved this one - Actually 1/2 in AUS, 1/2 in Switz - they stamp your passport on the hill if you want Switzerland - ONLY St Moritz, a 3 hour stunning drive away - crazy expensive, but worth the experience - they had carved ice sculptures, often of animals, right there on the slopes, I kid you not. Lake Tahoe - CAL/NV - it snowed 8 ft in 5 days - mid March Heavenly Sierra-At-Tahoe Squaw - Took the Tahoe Queen across the lake each way - then a bus to the resort - we had 2 buses (group of 60+) - 2nd bus (not mine ) flipped on its side - by the time they finally got there, conditions were unsafe - we'd already been skiing totally blind after the first 2 hours, you couldn't see your feet. One kid in our group didn't see a 20 - 30 ft dropoff and broke his leg. A couple days were so bad, there was no skiing to be had. The snow was virtually non-stop for a week. Thank God for the casinos. OMG, I got so many stories from that trip. But I digress... Colorado Copper Breckenridge Keystone Winter Park Purgatory UtahAlta Solitude MontanaBig Sky Bridger Bowl OregonMt Bachelor Mt Hood WashingtonCrystal Mountain Mt Baker Snoqualamie CanadaWhistler/Blackcomb MidwestIL - Chestnut MI - Marquette - many times MI - Boyne MI - Alpine Valley MI - Big Powderhorn MI - Blackjack MI - Indianhead MI - Crystal MI - Nub's Nob MN - Lutsen WI - Devils Head WI - Cascade Most were through ski clubs - dozens in Chicagoland, usually a couple hundred members each, 1 was close to 1000 members. They'd all offer group trips, like for the Midwest originating at a spot where y'all board a bus at like 6 - 7 PM Friday night for a 6 or 7 hour ride. Party on the bus. Also trips out west, Europe, Canada. They'd get much better prices than you could get yourself, lots of ski buddies, lunches on the hills with beer and wine (boxes lol), wine and cheese parties at the hotel pool/hot tub apres ski. Trip leaders took care of lift tickets 'here ya go' - and of course facilitated all transportation to and from the hill. Just made everything so easy. No ski club presence in Philly.

DivebitchI am jealous that you have skied in Europe! I plan some day to do so. Also I can make it 5 places if I count Mission Ridge Mission Ridge is a ski hill about an hour away from where I live.. I use hill in the literal sense because it is a few runs down the side of a valley. Its funny cause my province is made fun of for being the flattest place in Canada and our ski hill (which produced a bronze medalist this year ) is in the side of a valley lol. The runs are so short they go by in a flash. The black diamonds are like a blue run in the mountains lol. All in all its a good place to learn but going there to ski for fun isn't all that fun IMO. Its less terrifying than the mountains though lol. Jealous?

Eh, the snow is the same, not always as good, but the memories, many stories there too. Lots of sidetrips. We went to Salzburg, REAL castles (moats, cannons), the history is amazing. A few peeps went to Venice I think, one got robbed/picked/strong-armed boarding the train, they're like gypsies in their tactics. Oh, all the Europe was just 1 trip - 10 days, last 2 in Munich and Copenhagen. Wow Dive you have skied all over. Nice. And Yippie its finally snowing real good in the Sierras. Cali has been hurting for snow and rain. Yeah, heard about that, great news! Pineapple Express!!
