FINAL SCORE: 31 17
Well. I am PLEASANTLY surprised. I was actually pretty dang surprised. Coming into the game I was expecting the Rams to lose, and all I wanted to see was a touchdown. I got what I asked for and then some, four touchdowns and one field goal. Exciting game for me to watch! It makes up for that week 1 dud against Indianapolis. I closely watched almost every player there is and here are the top five players of the game:
TOP 5
5. Lance Kendricks, TE: Had three grabs and a touchdown. If it weren't for his very good blocking he wouldn't have made my top 5.
4. Janoris Jenkins, CB: Jenkins was the one who caused the first turnover for the Rams, forcing a fumble. He only allowed ONE completion on the night. He has only allowed two completions in two games in the preseason. Can you say shut-down corner?
3. Sam Bradford, QB: Very nice game Bradford. 2 touchdowns. 6 for 9, 102 yards. Very nice.
2. Danny Amendola, WR: 3 rec, 58 yards, and 1 touchdown. The touchdown came on a 4th and 2 and he made an insanely nice grab. The Rams called him player of the game.
1. Steven Jackson, RB: 7 carries for 49 yards. 7 yard average. At that pace he would've easily had a 200 yard game. There was one run where the line broke down at the line of scrimmage and he bursted through, carrying one lineman on his back and 2 others trying to tackle him for 9 yards. If that was anybody else it would have been a no-gainer.
Team Analysis:
The Rams came out looking to murder the Chiefs. They did just that, scoring twice in under 5 minutes. The Rams caused FOUR turnovers in this game, and were 2/3 on 4th down efficiency. I liked the aggressive playcalling. The Rams sacked the Chiefs FIVE-SIX times. If they can keep that up on in the regular season they can get to the 80+ sacks in one season. The only things I did not like about todays game was Isaiah Pead trying to do too much, and the backup kicker missing the field goal. I have no complaints. Great game all around for the Rams.
Earlier on the pregame thread I did a comparison between Michael Brockers and Dontari Poe, so who performed better in this game?
Answer: Michael Brockers
Brockers had two tackles, while poe had one. Brockers created instant pressure allowing hurried throws and ultimately incompletions. Poe was atrocious against Sjax (7ypc), and did little on the line against a backup ram center. He also allowed Kellen Clemens to do a 22 yard scamper. I hate to say it but Poe looked like shit on the field. I hope he doesn't bust for KC (I think he will though).
