Coach Tom Coughlin indicated that the blood clot in DT Shaun Rogers' leg is a season-ending injury.
It's bad luck for a player who had shown renewed commitment by dropping 50 pounds since the start of the offseason. With Marvin Austin (back) and Chris Canty (knee) also sidelined, the Giants' depth up front has taken a hit. Turning 34 in March, Rogers may have played his last NFL snap.

Positive way to look at this is that we really never had him in the regular season and the contract wasn't big money so in a way, this is a minimal loss.
What makes this worse though is the fact Austin is at the hospital for something back related atm.

everyone was raving about Rogers so far. he lost 50 pounds because the team asked him to. he was in amazing shape.
austin and hendricked are both injured.
our DTs are thin (not literally) right now.

If Austin is out for the season AGAIN, there's no way he comes back after missing 3 seasons of football. Talk about unlucky for him and the Giants if that ends up being the case.

How bad was the injury? What he do? All I know is that a lot of linemen on both sides of the ball are complaining about back issues due to sleeping on twin size beds. I'm guessing he tweaked it in practice and the coaching staff is being extra careful with him. So far, he's at the Hospital for Special Surgery and now I'm waiting for more news.
