Early thoughts about next off season already
Ok, it's a 10 team 0.5ppr salary cap dynasty. My team is a championship contender but it has it's share of rookie picks. It's pretty much set but always looking for the best option.
Here's my roster:
QB- Brady, Manuel, Ponder
RB- AP, Spiller, Martin, CJ1k, Murray, Bernard, Lamichael James
WR- Dem. Thomas, Fitz, Nicks, Vincent Brown, Tavon Austin, Hopkins, Patterson, Alshon Jeffrey
TE- Graham, Myers, Pitta
Don't have a PK or DEF at the moment. Anyways next off season most of my team will stay in tact. That can be both a blessing and a curse. Several of my players take up a lot of my salary cap space so I have the smallest roster in the league (21 players compared to some teams with 32 players). Anyways players with expiring contracts are Ponder, Murray, Dem.Thomas, Myers and Pitta. I should have $56 in cap space for the RFA season. Just for reference Dem Thomas went for $41 and Cobb went for $30 this past off season and both owners decided to go with 1 yr deals, you'll see why in a second.
This will be the most talented group of RFA players in the living history of the league. Not only will Dem. Thomas and Cobb be available for the 2nd straight year but so will Green, Julio, Cruz and Newton. The problem is, the RFA season is before the draft and I almost ran into trouble this year. I won Dem. Thomas but had to put Tampa Mike on waivers to make enough cap space for my rookie picks this year. I have 2 2014 1st and a 2014 2nd. My thinking is I'm not going to keep any RFA players for long especially with a price tag into the high 40s. The rookie picks come cheap with the most expensive ones being priced at a cool $10. Do I trade away my picks and go for an all-star QB or WR and go for another title run? Or conserve those picks and try to build up a younger nucleus around the rookies I already have?
Just for reference sake. Brady, AP, Spiller, Fitz and Graham will all be RFAs during the 2015 RFA season (after this season and next season) so my championship window is closing fast
