Looks like Thompkins deserves some preseason hype as well. Amendola, Thompkins, and Dobson were the top guys and Thompkins really played well. I wish we had got a chance to see more of Amendola, but I think this offense might be even better than last year.

Reports are saying that Brady is trying to get some live game reps with the rookie receivers today. If we are lucky we might get a good look at the offense. Dobson's ability to catch in traffic showed up, while Thompkins's quick pick up of the system and reliable hands showed as well. Boyce's speed showed on a deep throw that was overthrown by Mallett, but all of the key traits of each receiver showed up. Sudfeld showed good blocking discipline and made some nice moves after the catch to gain over 20 yards. Blount had the best night of all the running backs. Tommy Kelly and Chandler Jones teamed up for a strip sack. I didn't see Adrian Wilson, but he might have been out there; I saw more of Steve Gregory. Amendola had a short reception and wasn't targeted much. The Patriots set up the pass game with their run game. We might see that more this season if the running game can keep up their success. Overall, the offensive newcomers give the Patriots an ability to spread the ball, whether it's to a plethora of receivers and tight ends or using each back for their specific running types. On defense, Kelly looks to be able to add pressure up the middle, which New England has been lacking but the secondary and the linebackers in coverage still looks suspect. The pass rush was there, but the mobile quarterbacks were able to avoid potential sacks. Tebow struggled a bit, but it was still the Tebow everybody should have expected. I was not expecting New England to run the read option offense, but it was interesting to see.

Wilson was out their for a short period of time, I didnt see him miss any assignments, but he didnt make any plays. Tommy Kelley looked like the player from a few years ago. Its pretty clear that Tebow will be playing QB, just the offense will adjust when he does. That read-option can easily win games, its just unconventional and low scoring. I hope we see some goal line packages simular to the ones McDaniels used in Tebow's rookie year in Denver.

And I think Blount has passed Bolden, still a decent chance both of them make the roster as we have kept 5 backs for multiple years. But if Bolden doenst offer anything on special teams, then that roster spot could go towards keeping a Veteren receiver like Michael Jenkins, or an extra TE.

The offensive skill positions have a lot of depth for sure. Bolden plays on every special teams I think, so he should stick around for that reason. Keeping too much depth on the offensive side is going to make the defense thin, but we need all the people we can have on defense

We might have 3 of the best LB's in the league, but are a little thin on backups. I really like our defense this year, a lot of young talented players. Basicly its all younger guys, with the exception of Adrian Wilson, Tommy Kelly, and Vince Wilfork. Cant wait till game 2.

If that's the worst case scenario, Talib and Arrington starting with rookie Ryan in the slot looks iffy. In that case they may look to bring McCourty back down to corner. Fletcher should be a solid back up MLB while Collins should be a solid back up OLB. Most other LBs are special teamers. Interior d-line looks sketchy after Wilfork and Kelly. The depth after Ninko and Jones is too inconsistent, but that's what the preseason is for, get more consistent right?

Corner is a little thin, but it sounds like Dennard will be fine. There is no reason to believe Dowling will be any different this year when it comes to his injuries, but all we can do is hope on that one. A. Wilson, T. Wilson, Harmon, Gregory, Mccourty, and Ebner are a really deep core. Mccourty can switch back to corner if he has to. Im a big fan of Collins he can be a really good sub rusher and cover. Fletcher looked like the best LB on the field last year during preseason so hopefully he can regain his form. We didnt get a chance to look at Armstead, but if he lives up to his hype then he should be a solid interior pass rusher. Cunningham was a really good interior rusher last year before his suspension. I really just cant wait until game 2. Hopefully we will have most of our defense on the field.

It's gonna be joint practices all week again, with Tampa Bay, so they're gonna start to learn tendencies of their opponents again and know what to kind of expect. Week 3, sure they can study film and all that, but it doesn't give you that tactical edge of actually playing against them for a week. So to see how they perform against players they don't know might be a better representation of talent and abilities.

Starters usually play 2-3 quarters in game 3, im just excited for every single game at this point. We have like 3 more weeks until the real deal.
