A little interesting that we are having joint practices with the Bucs, considering we play them just 5 weeks later in the regular season.

I'm looking forward to game 3 more than game 2. It's gonna be joint practices all week again, with Tampa Bay, so they're gonna start to learn tendencies of their opponents again and know what to kind of expect. Week 3, sure they can study film and all that, but it doesn't give you that tactical edge of actually playing against them for a week. So to see how they perform against players they don't know might be a better representation of talent and abilities. Starters usually play 2-3 quarters in game 3, im just excited for every single game at this point. We have like 3 more weeks until the real deal. Haha I'm with you on that one. This should be an exciting season and hopefully it will yield some favorable results!

Michael Jenkins released.
The receiving core is pretty clear at this point.

A lot of good things came out of this game. Brady was great as usual, Amendola was very impressive. The running game wasnt bad. It is pretty clear that Sudfeld has incredible hands.
Thompkins got his second start next to Amendola. While he didnt have a big game it seems pretty clear that he has surpassed Dobson, Boyce, and maybe even Amendola on the depth chart.
The defense wasnt bad. The front 8 was very impressive, however the back 4 was inconsistant. It hurts when 2 of your 4 DB's are out, and that was likely a huge part of the struggle. That over the top TD doesnt happen if Mccourty is back there.
Mallett wasnt bad, but not great either. He missed some throws he shouldve made. Tebow was awful, he looked a lot better the other night when he was playing mostly in the pistol. But I dont think he ran one option play, a couple of designed qb runs but no real option plays. He clearly isnt ready to be an NFL QB.

A very poor peformance, but sometimes you need to have a game like that to really be able to work on your mistakes.
I think Bolden's fumble could end up impacting his roster spot. There is always the chance we keep 5 backs, but Blount has played better than him throughout camp and preseason, and offers simular things on special teams.
We had probably 5 or 6 situation where we were in position to score a TD. Most of those ended in a turnover, but it wasnt one of those games where we couldnt move the ball.
Kenbrell Thompkins continues to prove he is worthy of the number 2 receiving spot, maybe even the number 1 receiver. Dobson looked pretty good in this one and he is probably secured at the 3 spot. I Think Amendola, Thompkins, Dobson, Edelman, Boyce, and Slater will be our receiving core this year, with Gronk, Sudfeld, Ballard, and either Fells, Hooman, or Devlin securing that TE/FB role.
The starting defense actually played very good. The pass rush wasnt as good as it was last week, but it was missing Vince Wilfork, which makes it tough to get interior pressure.
Mallett had another one of those inconsistant games. He wasnt bad, but he wasnt good either. He hasnt done enough to improve his trade value though.
Tebow didnt even play, but I am sure he will get a lot of reps in the 4th game. I am sure the staff has already determined if he makes the roster or not, and I am leaning towards him getting a spot as a 1 year project. He does offer good value as a scout team option QB, and could add something in redzone packages if McDaniels wanted to use him like he did in Denver.
The rosters all have to be at 75 players by Tuesday. I believe we are at 84 right now. I dont think any well known players will be one of those 9.

Not one bad word about Brady and the Defenses horrible performance???!!! Preseason or not, concern IS warranted. Foles Trade Value higher than Mallets....never thought I'd say that.

Brady didnt play a bad game. It wasnt a great game, but he threw one interception that was dropped by the receiver. And lets make this clear, the starting defense gave up 13 points, even after the offense turned the ball over 4 times. The only real concern for this defense would be lack of interior line depth, and maybe lack of CB depth.

I think not having Amendola hurt Brady a bit as well. That's what I get for.listening to the idiots on the radio instead of looking at the game. Cam Newton doesn't look all that good. But he looked bad in the preseason his rookie season as well then turned it on in the reg season.

But he looked bad in the preseason his rookie season as well then turned it on in the reg season. The passing game wasnt bad, but their was no running game to compliment it, and a lot of fumbles that should never happen. The first drive shouldve resulted in a TD, but instead it was a Sudfeld fumble. I really think its good to have a loss like this just to put everyone's mindset back to reality. 90 percent passer rating wasnt exactly realistic. The one thing that has stayed consistant is the defense. Now its hard to say if that actually translates into the regular season, but the defense did jump from 24th in the league to 11th in the league after the Aqib Talib trade last season. It is basicly the same exact defense, except with key players Donte Hightower and Chandler Jones will a full season of experiance, and with the addition of Adrian Wilson. The lions edge rushers had a pretty good game against Solder and Vollmer which should never happen. Our interior oline actually held up pretty well, which is suprising considering we are basicly working with a 5th string RG. We just got to wait 2 more weeks until the real thing starts, it cant come soon enough.

I've been so busy with school and football that I haven't posted on these forums in awhile, but I edited this for what I saw in the preseason. Dobson wasn't nearly as good as he has the potential to be, but Thompkins and Sudfeld look legit. All the draft picks made the team and will contribute one way or another. I think the other players panned out like I thought they would. Looking forward to this season. Go Pats!
