Okay, as everyone knows, we are currently a small forum with under 100 members.
I want to know; how big do we want to be? Do we want to stick with what we have now and add people we know when we get a chance, or try to expand and accept everyone, and boot them if they act up?
I see benefits of both, but I wanted to ask what the majority thought of it.

Hey panther. I don't care either way.
I think if we do open it to public, that the forums we have open right now should be private so that only we can see/access them, except for maybe the NFL general discussion forum.
Then if we decide we like them, they get full access?

Panther I have a question. If you open it to everyone and someone is a jerk and gets booted, what is to stop them from making a new account and come back? How would you find these people? Would they need to have an account somewhere else?
Okay three questions.

1] They'd need to change their IP address and use a different email. Besides that we have nothing other than guessing. 2] We've had 5 (?) people sign up without being invited in the last few months. I doubt they are the people we are looking for, but we could make the forum public and put it in signatures of other places. 3] Depends upon what we agree to.

I say only democrats, no cowboy, patriot, or giant fans. Just my 2cents.
Joking of course. It would be interesting to see some outsiders here. We have enough troll smashers signed up to keep the undesirables at bay Imo

I like the idea of more people, but I also am a big believer in quality over quantity. The beauty is as of now we know who our trusted members are, everyone here right now are quality people whom we all can trust. With over 90 trustworthy people I am sure we can govern any newcomers who cause problems. However could we have threads as personal as we do now? The show your face thread and things as such.. Things would change greatly if we allowed just anyone.
A way to appeal to both sides would be if we could have some areas just for trusted members, it could be "The Graveyard" where only select people would be allowed to see the threads so we could still have our community of trusted people but we could also have the other area for anyone.. Issue is then we segregate our populace and it might drive some away as it would put some people higher than others, which never works well..

I am all for big expansion. I have been apart of several different big forums and most of them didnt have issues with trolls like we had on nfl.com, and like you see on the old espn boards. I am no longer apart of operation sports, but that is by far the best forum I have ever seen. They like here dont have paid mods, just a bunch of good, reliable members. They also have the IP ban and use it all the time.
IMO there is little risk in allowing anyone to join, and heavily advertising this forum. The average person does not know how to change their IP address or use VPN or Proxy.
And like jindred said, a trusted members area could work. We had something simular at operation sports that know one else even knew about, unless they were part of it. It was pretty much the same exact forum, except in an area for only those trusted members. We could setup something like that, which would give our current members a way to interact with out any of the other members.
With more members we could probably get some donations, and place some adds to get a small income for this site. That money could be used to get a permanent domain name and a more reliable host. It would give us a little more options for the layout of the site.

Patskid. I agree with this a whole lot. I was thing of the fact the starters of this forum, could possibly sell advertizing. I'm not sure how PB would deal with that. But here is what I agree with

Jindred I liked your post also.

First off, you should all realize that NFL lends itself to trolls and a-holes due to homerism. I'm active in a poker and scuba diving where there is no competitive or homer forces. Even my bird and hot pepper (no lie) forums, I've never seen any strife. Grant you, I rarely go there, but when I do I look around. Just checked out the peppers - i kid you not, almost 1,000 looking thehotpepper.com/So....no, I don't think we should turn this site into 'open season'. IDK what revenue is involved here. Someone enlighten me? I have a Proboard of my own, and it's free.
