Lions have signed Stafford to an extension. He had 2 years left on his deal and signed a 3 year, $56 million dollar extension. He now has 5 years and $76 million left on his deal with $46 million guaranteed. Thoughts?

I never like that much guaranteed money, as well as $15m a year is pretty steep.

R. Bush had better not get hurt. If he has to throw the ball as much as he did last year he may be the highest paid player on the sidelines with another dislocated shoulder................

(Only one voted (?)) said 'indifferent'. Hard to say what is fair these days, especially when you have to compare them with guys really not as good or in a different place in their career making same/more money.

I honestly like the deal. I expected a 6 year, $100 million deal. This wasn't so much to create cap space (opened up 7 million between this year and next) but rather to lock him down. Stafford will be 29 at the end of this deal so he's still young and supposably in his prime.

Good deal. Stafford is awesome and deserves it. He plays well in a very very hard division.

I think its a little much for him, I'm not completely sold on him being a top 10 QB for years to come

I think its a little much for him, I'm not completely sold on him being a top 10 QB for years to come I diffenently don't see him as an elite/ top 5 QB. But IMO he is in the next tier just below that. I hate how everyone aligns a win loss record with QBs. Anyone that watched Lions games last year knows Stafford had some part in the 12 losses but it was mostlyon other parts of the team.

I don't judge QBs by wins/losses, I think Bradford is way better than people give him credit for and could easily put up top 10 stats if he had a decent receiving core. I wish Stafford and the Lions all the best (except when they play the Saints), I usually always root for the underdog because I know how it feels to root for a crappy team for many years. He is definitely in my top 10 right now but with guys like Kaepernick, Newton, RG3, Luck and Wilson, I'm not sure if he can keep that spot. I wouldn't rate any of those guys above him yet but in the next few years if they keep doing what their doing they will surpass him. I don't think he's way overpaid like Flacco and Romo, just a little
