Preseason week one. Game is at 7:00 PM EST on NFL Network.
Texans players to watch
QB: T.J. Yates. Played a lot of last season after Schaub and Lienart went down, played pretty well. Will not be starting the begining of next season and most likely not at all, so the pre season might decide if Yates will get a job somewhere else.
RB: N/A
WR: Lestar Jean, DeVier Posey, and Keshawn Martin. All are young WRs that are fighting to be the #2 WR on the depth chart, unless anyone one plays amazing they'll be fighting for #3. Jean was leading two months ago, don't know now.
TE: James Casey. Possible breakout player, TE/FB role. He's a good player and someone you should watch.
OL: Ben Jones and Brandon Brooks. Their fourth and third round draft picks, niether will be starting but should get plenty of action in the 2nd and 3rd Quarters.
DL: N/A
LB: Whitney Mercilus. First round pick of Houston's. He is a rush linebacker who will get a lot of work in the 2nd and 3rd Quarters. Might see some action in the first quarter. He will be fighting Brooks Reed and Connoc Barwin for a starting spot at Rush Linebacker. I am not a fan of Mercilus personally, I think he'll be a bust.
DB: Kareem Jackson. Two years in the NFL and hasn't done anything. Jackson has this last season to prove to the NFL he is not a bust, if he does that Houston will have a good secondary.
Special Teams: Randy Bullock. 5th round pick of Houston's and will win the starting job. Should have a good season kicking the football for the Texans.
Game Expecation:
Houston 24 - Carolina 20
