This shouldn't come as a big surprise to many of you but ESPN have announced that they will be shutting their forums permanently as of July 17th. Facebook will then be required to post on articles and game threads. If you have friends there it's time to swap emails and/or details asap, (securely of course).

Nah it was no big surprise, I heard rumors from my school earlier but had no proof. That's why I never really got too involved, that and the trolls.

I don't know how you guys view the ESPN forums and the article commenting sessions, but I think NFL.com was kind of "heaven" compared to what goes on at ESPN.com. I have an account there for the Insider subscription that I also use for fantasy games. I remember posting something about the NBA lockout on an article and that was my one and only shot. Things can get ugly pretty fast up there.

The, (only), nice things about ESPN were the fan rooms where you could start individual 'team-only' threads. I enjoyed some 'Rams-only' discussions. There weren't many troll visitors to our forum...at least until CBS closed down.

youtube is gonna be the next option to look for people now, but even that has been getting transitioned to something else now
they havent made it into facebook comments yet, but people with gmail accounts have been able to use it. and the gmail accounts are gonna be used like facebook soon. personally im giving that a try though, even though your personal info is out there like facebook
