I don't know why this has become such a popular idea. Maybe it is because media analysts cannot bear the idea of the possibility of there being no QB drafted in the 1st Round, but it is illogical to think that teams needing QBs will trade up into the late 1st. The teams that could could take a QB early (in the 1st 2 Rounds) are Jacksonville, Oakland, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Arizona, Buffalo, New York (Jets), and possibly San Diego. Cleveland and Oakland don't have 2nd Round Picks, so that rules them out. Arizona just traded for Carson Palmer, so they have the luxury of waiting later to Draft a QB. That leaves Jacksonville, Philadelphia, Buffalo, and the Jets to go after Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, E.J. Manuel, and Ryan Nassib. Why would any of those teams trade up when any of those QBs (aside from Smith) could be there in the early 2nd Round? It doesn't make sense for those teams to give up Draft Picks on players they could pick anyway. Maybe this is just me and teams will trade up anyway (stranger things have happened in the Draft), but like I said before, it is completely illogical to trade up into the late 1st Round for a QB that would be there anyway at your pick in the 2nd.

have you forgotten about San Francisco, who needs a backup and has 62,000 draft picks? I still don't think it'll happen. My money is on Geno Smith to the Jaguars and Matt Barkley to the Jets at #13. After that, I think the top of the second will see Nassib, Glennon, and Wilson go to needy teams. After that though, guys like Manuel, Scott, and Bray should be in free fall for backup spots.

Most people do not consider Geno Smith, Matt Barkley, E.J. Manuel, Ryan Nassib, and Mike Glennon equal talent. The majority of people believe Smith is the best qb, Barkley is the 2nd best, and then the rest are all around the same talent level. If Buffalo, Jacksonville, and New York all wanted to get Geno Smith, then one of them would have to jump the other to do so, same goes for Barkley. I expect at least 1 qb to be taken in the 1st round, and it wont be till the end of the 1st round. I could see Buffalo taking someone else in the top 10, and then trading back in to get Nassib.

Is this an avatar wager? I'll take it. The Vikings could be looking for a QB at #23. Trading up from #33+ to #22 isn't overly expensive if you think you might get a future franchise QB. I'm certainly hoping that happens. The Rams might be willing to undersell that pick on chart values. I might well take 700 points.
Even if it doesn't happen at #22 someone will trade back into the 1st round to get ahead of the Jaguars.

I mocked the Jaguars trading up for Matt Barkley a while back, but they're probably going to take Geno Smith at #2, and if they go with Jordan, trading would leave them with no line help. So I doubt they'd do it.
